Great freshly made sandwiches, lattes, and coffee in a hip and artsy cafe. Apparently they became mildly Reddit famous, and I live up the street and was excited to finally visit one morning. I had the cheddar bacon bagel, and a chai, which was excellent. Some places go too heavy on the sugar and too light on the spice, but Rooz nailed the balance. They also have teas and smoothies, and I appreciate that the owner Steve had local art on the walls. A great visit and nice place to hang out, with both indoor and outdoor tables, and a dog friendly vibe.

Stumbled upon this jewel while walking with my wife and I’m amazed. The sign in the front says “coffee and more” and let me tell you, it lives up to that. This is not just a local cafe, this is a community gathering spot. The atmosphere is welcoming, vibrant, relaxed, and driven by the people. The grilled cheese was in every sense of the word, delicious. It felt like the grilled cheese you made the day you wanted to be a chef, but it had an extra layer of attention only a guy who wants to please a costumer could bring. The coffee was intentionally aromatic and of high quality, and a HUGE amount. It invites you to hang out and listen to the music while sipping your ceramic mug, and enjoying the plants by the window and the art on the walls. Simply put, this is the place where you want to and should come back to.Kid-friendliness: This is a relaxed environment that doesn’t take itself too seriously, this is perfect for a kid to be a kid.

Just moved to the area and I have been on the look out for a good cafe nearby. This place checked all the boxes aside from being closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. But I get it.The food was tasty and the ingredients were very fresh. The coffee was solid. But my favorite part about this spot was the space itself. It's big. Lot's of room to hang with a group but its just as easy to find an area to do some work privately. Good music, cool art. It has a local/neighborhood vibe with an edge to it. I'll be back.

Has wifi, plenty of seating, outlets, and a chill atmosphere. The service and food was excellent and reasonably priced. Great place to get work done. I highly recommend!Vegetarian options: Lots of vege/vegan options.Wheelchair accessibility: No steps. Wide entryways. There is a door in the front that requires manual effort to open.

This is the best cafe in the neighborhood hands down. They allow dogs and have much more extensive food options than most cafe’s. The hummus and veggie bagel is a favorite. I like the ham and havarti croissant sandwich. Their smoothies are excellent. I just tried the pastrami sandwich, which was too notch. They know what they are doing in terms of food and ingredients.

The old guy who works at this place made my sandwich without any gloves on or anything and when asked his expressions were “Don’t tell me how to do my job”

Rooz is an awesome local coffee shop, the kind where neighbors hang out for hours. The owner is a great guy, works very hard and makes delicious coffee and sandwiches. Their sandwiches are top notch and affordable. Plenty of seating (and WiFi) so come and stay for a bit.If you’ve got little ones, FM Smith Park is right across the street. Easy car parking, bike parking and a quick jaunt to Lake Merritt.COVID hit this place hard so support a wonderful small business and treat yourself to good food, good coffee and good company.

Great sandwiches, but post-pandemic, it can be hard to figure out when they are open.

Local cafe with a town feel. Location is nice. Friendly staff. Able to eat inside or outside. Sandwich was tasty. Pricey. Fresh. And messy. Make sure to grab a handful of napkins before you indulge.

Just moved to the area and we love this place. Eclectic neighborhood coffee shop with tons of personality, and of course, great coffee and bites. The owner Steve is usually behind the counter and he's super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend

They’re never open. I tried again this Saturday - checked the hours on Google and on their website, just to be sure. They said they’d be open till 3pm. I got there at 12pm and there was already two people trying to get in, but it was closed! The one and only time they were open, the girl behind the counter was hanging with two of her friends and ignored me. I finally asked if I could order and she said they were closed, even though their hours said they would be open for another hour, which I said. She just said “we closed early”. My boyfriend has also tried many times to go, but every time, it was closed.
