The food was unique and delicious. Very clever combinations of Thai, Japanese and Chinese cuisine. The service was delightful. I'm not used to seeing such excellent food be inexpensive.
I ate here with two other people and we all enjoyed our meal. The servers were prompt and polite and the food started great! We all agreed that we would definitely go back.
Waitress wasn't as helpful. Left mid service towards the end of night without letting us know.
Love this place. My favorite restaurant in Oakland. The menu changes once in a while and the Bread Pudding is out of this world. Everyone who works there is super nice! The food is incredible and the drinks are amazing too. Go during happy hour for great deals!
Amazing place and food. Great flavors. Everything was perfect except the Mapu Tofu noodles (didn't taste like Mapu tofu). Otherwise every other dish was perfect including the hamachi spoons (mind blowing)
Quick review: Hamachi Spoon? Flavor bomb. Garlic noodles? Divine. Pork belly lettuce wraps? Sumptuous. Salt and pepper wings? Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and flavored to perfection. Miso Sea Bass? Eye rolling. I don't live in the Bay Area, but when I'm there, you'll find me at Saucy Oakland. What a gem!
I live in Oakland since the since the 80's . I've tried quite of few restaurants in the area. It always decent or more than decent. Hey, there's always first time. Two nights ago, I ate at Saucy (Oakland) I honestly say the awful place I've been visited. The appetizer gyoya or Japanese potsticker is store bought frozen, the hibachi is lousy and the so called lettuce chicken I seems the entire sea salt was poured into it. Garlic noodles??? Tofu veg's over rice. Seems like the cafeteria style all you can eat. 😢 Local restaurant should tried to use local ingredients and for the love of God learn how to cook.
Hate to have to leave this review but unfortunately Saucy Oakland dropped the ball in a pretty major way recently.
We were planning a birthday party for a person very important to us and had a relatively large party. Saucy looked amazing and we were excited to try it (food looked great, local Oakland business, stellar reviews)
Earlier in last week, my wife called the restaurant (we confirmed it was the correct location) to see if they could facilitate a group of 12 on Friday evening. She spoke with a male on the phone who told her he would check and call her back. When he called her back, he said it would be good and confirmed our time.
When the reservation time came, we went into the restaurant. When notifying them of our party and the reservation, we were met with confused looks. The person who greeted us went to talk with the owner who came out to us and more or less (even though apologetic) told us that not only did they not know about the reservation but that they would not be able facilitate our party.
We told them that we had spoken with a male who had confirmed and also showed the number called which was exactly the number for the business.
Thankfully, Horn bbq next door was able to facilitate us that night and it turned out being a great experience with delicious food so the evening was saved.
I regretfully will not be trying Saucy in the future as a result of this experience nor will I be encouraging anyone who asks to try as well. My hope is that they get better organization so that nobody has to have the embarrassing experience we had.
We were attracted by the oakland restaurant week menu. We weree glad we did. Like the menu, ingredients were fresh and tasty, even the beef just melt in your mounth. The unfortunate thins is the sauce and marinate was just overwhelming. I suggest this be reduced.
Loved our experience here! Visited during restaurant week so we opted for the $45 tasting menu and it was amazing! Sampled the Hamachi Spoons, Pork Belly, Chicken Wings, Cod and Shaking Beef and Bread Pudding. All were hits! And the service is top notch! Defeinitly a great find and worth the visit!

I remember we have been here before. This is a nice restaurant with store front windows and nice ambiance. The staff was attentive. My husband (meat eater) loved the Broccolini. I found it a bit too oily. Wings were very crispy-still a bit of heat when asked for mild. Cod was good-portion small. Shaken beef was a little tough and again small portions. Entrees are in the $30 range-would be nice to be a little generous with portions.
Great place. Food came fast. Tasted great!
Saucy is a fun and delicious place to eat flavor-packed meals. It's a small shop and the personality shines through from decor to food.
Food and service was really good! The sake was also great. I’d say the only thing that detracted from a great experience was the poppy music playing. Something more atmospheric would have improved the ambience instead of 2010s pop music
Came here for the first time the other night and the food was SOOO good. Three of us shared the family style meal option. Really good portion sizes and everything was delicious. Service was great as well.
