Haven't had smitten in awhile, so we wanted to try it again (especially since it's been HOT lately). No line on a Thursday night so I was able to order quickly. There's a limited menu so it wasn't too hard to figure out what to order. I was impressed with how fast the ice cream was made too. I ordered a single scoop cookie dough ice cream with pretzels and chocolate chips. Ice cream isn't that creamy or rich, so it's not too heavy. The pretzels and chocolate chips add a nice texture and depth of flavor to the brown sugar ice cream. Overall, not unbelievably sweet. There's a good balance - I think the pretzels help with that. It was fun to try a different take on cookie dough (my go-to flavor) and Smitten executed it well. I also liked that the cookie dough chunks were blended into the ice cream (brown sugar) instead of having big chunks of dough.

Walt from Walt's Adventures here and I find myself in Oakland, California. Tonight's adventure has led me to Smitten Ice Cream. What Smitten does differently than any other ice cream parlor is that all of their selections are made with liquid NITROGEN! It's amazing. You see all of the ingredients put in a mixer and then, after a few minutes, your mixer looks like a foggy experiment as if you had entered a laboratory of a mad scientist. Literally, not more than a few minutes later, poof... your fresh selection is made. The taste? All ice creams and frozen yogurts give you that milk or yogurt taste with flavors. However, I thought Smitten tasted fresher. It was ice cream that goes straight to the great flavors and no aftertastes. If you want ice cream, you could go to your local parlor but why not go extreme and go to Smitten! I cannot wait to return.

They used to have a location in Lafayette that I would go to constantly! Their ice cream is so creamy and smooth, absolutely no ice chunks. They have so many fun flavors, but I will always be a chocolate cone. Their waffle cones are also warm and fresh.

Smitten is a cute concept, using liquid nitrogen to make the ice cream. I thought it was unique and fun to watch, but wasn't the biggest fan of seeing the mixture out in the open. It was fun to try and I appreciated some of the rotating flavors, but I likely won't go back due to the quality and preference!

Okay so my wife loves ice cream, her favorite of all time is the strawberry flavored häagen-dazs. we tried Smitten for the first time from a friend referral in the san jose location, i give that place 4/5 stars because the customer service wasn't that great but it's great here at the Oakland location. such a cool spot, downtown with lots of people walking, good spot to get your ice cream and walk around. the strawberry is okay, my wife would much rather do the häagen-dazs, but she fell in love with the sweet summer corn flavor and the vanilla is also 10/10. (who would have thought that you could make plain vanilla so good?) another great part about Smitten, the waffle cone bowl is like no other! it's so soft and goes perfect with the vanilla scoop, it doesn't pair very well with the corn just because of double wheat, so if you're going to get the summer corn scoop you should do a regular bowl. nothing bad to say about Smitten, such an amazing place to go get ice cream. & they also sell pints of your favorite flavors!

Love this place!! Their ice cream is so good and made in such a unique way. It is located on the corner and plenty of street parking. You order first and their flavors change regularly. I got a scoop of strawberry and cookie dough on a waffle cone. They were unfortunately out of some toppings (we came towards closing time) but we had cookie dough bites to top it off. They have bathrooms but no indoor seating. I gave it a 4/5 stars because I wish they would have a larger selection of flavors to choose from but I appreciate the creaminess of the flavors they do have. Its a definite must try!

This my second time coming here. And today the experience was just NOT GREAT at all. As I was standing to pay for my ice cream, a random individual came and PUNCHED ME on my injured right shoulder and the person stood there and laughed hysterically while their friend held them against the window. The employees did not do anything nor say anything. They didn't even ask if I was okay. But they sure did speak up and tell me my payment didn't go through... I'll be contacting the store so I can get a recording of this situation because it has caused pain to my injured shoulder again. It was healing and now it's throbbing in pain and causing me major discomfort. Their sweet corn didn't taste like corn but the strawberry cream was delicious though.

Smitten is located across the street from Trader Joe's and Zachary's Pizza. Parking can be tough. There is no parking lot and College ave is a high traffic street. The ice cream is freshly made to order. It's really cool to see it being churned right in front of you. We got the vanilla flavor and it was incredibly delicious. Smooth, creamy and satisfying. There isn't a lot of flavors to choose from, so that would be the only negative. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. If I'm in the neighborhood I wouldn't mind eating here again. The ice cream was very very good. The customer service was also great!

Took my oldest son here because we had a taste for ice cream. They only have a select few of choices in the menu but they have more flavors in pints in the freezer. We got the Brookies (brownie and cookie) & Cream, Chocolate Ganache and Mint Chocolate Chip pint to go. The ice cream is really good and I recommend a visit. Wished they still had cookies though.

Great location! The place was neat and tidy. The employee who was helping me out explained everything on the menu which I got kind of confused because too many to choose! Ice cream was really good! I would not recommend getting the toffee crunch because it conflicts with the taste of the ice cream that is my own opinion. Overall I enjoyed it! Especially the whipped cream I finished it all! Thank you until we meet again!
