1:30 Thursday afternoon and they are out of bread for sandwiches. How does that happen ? A crazy Thursday run or poor planning? I wouldn’t mention it except that this has happened to me several times. Why do I keep going back? It has great scones and pastries. And bread and rolls, when they have them.
I followed these reviews and went to Starter Bakery for the first time and the reviews were spot on, so let me add to them. Super excellent baked goods, super excellent staff, pretty all-white high ceiling interior, kind of a plain exterior building, but in a great neighborhood. What a great place.

Their pastry selection is insane and I always find myself coming here after grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s because it’s right across the street.
My favorite is their pretzel croissant- it gets sold out pretty quickly so definitely get there early in the morning to grab them! It’s perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside with just the amount of saltiness as well to get the pretzel feeling. Their kouign...
