The food was amazing. As a southerner, I approve of the bbq. Especially the brisket. The salad looks simple but it’s delicious. The po boys are great. The only thing that was “just ok” would be the max and cheese. The outdoor area was big with plenty of seating.
The food is very delicious and full of flavor. Customer Service is excellent atmosphere is great and they have pinball machines.

The pork belly and pickle sandwich is the best sandwich in the east bay if you like it crispy, fatty, and flavorful. Delicious and light dressing on the shredded lettuce with awesome outdoor seating.

I lived in Austin for a long time, so I'm familiar with the style Stay Gold is aiming for. They do a good job! I wouldn't rate it top tier vs some of the places you have around Central Texas, but it's solid.Huge portion of really good brisket! I was actually surprised how much meat I got for the price. Very generous, especially by Bay Area standards!The only minus I would give them is: I'd prefer more onion. But that's a minor quibble.So the food is great.Also I give this place a top atmosphere rating. It's down to earth and unpretentious, a genuine dive.As a bonus, they host live music and--one of the best events in the Bay--Oakland Drunken Film Festival.Long live Stay Gold!

Parking isn’t easy and the Texas beans are kidney beans in runny juice, the service is friendly and the cold sandwich and slaw are ok. I might be back for the brisket and ribs since that seems to be the move. Overpriced for what it is..

This place may actually be the best BBQ joint in Oakland in terms of quality AND price...which is next to impossible to find now days for BBQ. The brisket and ribs are very good. Their beans are good and the greens are alright. Only side I didn't like was the Mac and cheese.Anyways...this is probably going to be my new BBQ go to spot since their meats are really good and they aren't charging an arm and a leg. I look forward to trying their sandwiches as I work my way through their menu.

So, I used to *LOVE* coming to Stay Gold. Their sandwiches are legit off the charts. I didn't eat one today but I'm sure they're still just as good.Unfortunately, I saw the less desirable side of this hidden gem today. I simply stopped in the use the restroom because it's one of the few places that I feel comfortable doing so in this area. Then I actually went into the restroom - it reeked of urine - BAD - and there was absolutely NO TOILET PAPER. There weren't even rolls to attach the toilet paper in the holder!I politely mentioned this to the guy behind the counter and he had an attitude the screamed "How dare you expect toilet paper in a restroom," all the while he just said "Okay." And then went back to doing absolutely nothing.When I frequented this spot the employees actually cared about the place and today I realized how big of a difference it makes when employees genuinely enjoy their workplace.Still giving 3 stars because the sandwiches back when I came here a lot were THAT GOOD.
