I just loved this quaint, cozy little cafe, situated in the hillsides of Oakland. I came because I am obsessed with Mr. Espresso coffee beans, which they use for brewed coffee and espresso and also sell by the bag. The cafe has a small-town, old-school feel, like it could be out in the countryside. The brewed coffee was very good, as I had hoped it would be. I mentioned to an employee that the French Roast was out (they had a few self-serve brewed coffee options), and the woman behind the counter let me know she'd start brewing a new batch right away. I also love that they give you a free coffee when you purchase a bag of coffee beans! I'd love to come back and try their food. I'll be back.

Passed by this place for decades and only yesterday stopped to have breakfast. You order at the counter and they deliver to your table. The food (egg scramble for a friend and bagel and lox for me) was delicious and the service was friendly. The building is a funky mix of small rooms, a throw back to the way cafes in the east bay used to be. Will certainly go back.

Now that we can bring our dogs again it is convenient to sit on the patio and have a coffee or breakfast. There was one. Where they were not even letting dogs on the patio for no good reason. They reverted the rule. The breakfast burritos are surprisingly well stuffed with eggs and cheese and the hot sauce is a good amount of spice. Not too hot not too mild. They do not have straws. Take your own. If you need it.Patio is slanted, but it is covered with a tent. There are wooden benches to sit on. They bring you out your food if you are eating there.

I was staying at an Airbnb nearby and walked to The Terrace for breakfast. It operates as half service, where food is ordered and then brought to your table via number. I had a large hot latte and a vegetable burrito (egg, spinach, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese). The latte came first, was fresh and hot (I needed to let it cool before drinking). Great foam and flavor. The burrito was hot and fresh as well and delicious. I was able to sit on the patio, enjoy my time leisurely, and read my book. The restaurant is very well run and I wouldn't hesitate going back for lunch.

Loved the vibe, and it felt like we were in England for our lunch. The food was delicious and tasted like homemade.

Cute little cafe next the Village Market where you can get soup, salad, sandwiches and other breakfast items. They're very polite and the food is very fresh; great spot for lunch if you don't want to bike down the hill.

I haven't had a salad this good in a very long time. I hope if it's a seasonal salad, they replace it with something just as good, because, Yum. The coffee isn't the best in Oakland, but it's serviceable. It seems to be pretty packed often, so don't be surprised to wait for a table to open up. As such, DO NOT expect to be able to park yourself and work on a computer inside here. There are large signs posted everywhere saying "No computers!!" Which I somewhat understand, but I don't see the harm if it's not busy. It seems like people should be able to use responsible freedom on that, but....I digress...Wheelchair accessibility: Definitely not accessible. There are several steps and narrow doorways to navigate.

Used to absolutely adore this cafe for a light lunch while catching up on emails, the pear salad used to be amazing. I recently returned after a few years and was disappointed to find the cute gift shop element has been removed and replaced with strange decor.I ordered the pear salad and when it arrived we were reminded (at 2:35) that they’d be closing at 3; understandable but a bit unnecessary. The salad has really gone downhill - mixture of romaine and arugula with both Caesar dressing and balsamic? The bread used to be grilled and delicious and was instead under-toasted with half spread, half melted garlic butter. Precisely at 3 they reminded every table that they were closing. They’ve also added somewhat intense signs saying no computers allowed, but they are allowed in a tent in the parking lot, as if using a laptop at a cafe is a punishment - weird.Just not quite what it used to be, but the Italian wedding soup was good.
