Walked in and ordered the Bento House sushi roll and the garlic fried chicken rice bowl. The sushi was fresh and delicious! The chicken was good but just a tiny bit salty. Overall, I had a great experience ordering, interacting w the staff and the food was good. Would definitely recommend and order from here again.
The food was mediocre. I was surprised because there were some great reviews. In discussing my disappointment with coworkers who recently went there I heard the same sentiments - greasy and poorly flavored. Nonetheless, I rate the food 3/5. In regard to the atmosphere for such a small space, it felt like a safe place to eat. This for me is a 4.5/5. Where the place tanks is in the service. I really love this little place. The waitress (I believe also the owner and chef) is super kind and friendly. The food is really tasty and the portions are quite substantial. Now.. is this the BEST bento in the Bay Area? No. It’s not. But it’s not trying to be. It’s tasty and quick and a great option for midday meals.I love the beef and chicken bulgogi equally and I always order with a beer. Not sure how but she’s got the coldest ever in Old Oakland.Also, beautiful orchids!!
