This place was amazing, but is out of business as of November 2022. RIP, The Well. Front is boarded up, when you call, their message confirms, out of business.

The Well is so good I'm writing a review and they're not even open (right now). :) The Tofu Congee is my go-to and so good that I am feeling amiss without this comfort food. Sliced burgundy beets, slightly pickled, that umami seasoned hodo tofu and a little addition of shiitake and mmm! I love that it's vegan and organic with generous portions.

This place was my go-to for healthy, clean food and drink. They have a beverage menu unlike any place else. The food menu is thoughtfully curated with options for vegans, gluten free, and pescatarian diets. The vibe reminds me of little cafes I found when exploring semi-rural Hawaii. It's been my experience that service can be a little inconsistent hence the 4 stars.

At first it felt strange that a space that seemed to be created by activists could also be so posh. Overall it was a pleasurable experience. With the price of the Karma bowl being set on a sliding scale it is inclusive. I'll have to stop back to checkout happy hour at 8pm with ½ price Kava.

Wonderful service and everything is so thoughtfully made! The food is nourishing and I feel good after eating. My favorite is the turmeric daikon congee! Just tried a chocolate mochi bun today, yum!!

The best dish is the Karma bowl (adding egg is muah!). Sadly, the integrity of the manager is lacking. There is a high turnover in staff and the sorting of recycling and compost waste is so-so. In the beginning, I brought my own reusable (because The Well only uses disposables) six times in a row, which made me a returning patron time and time again. Until one day the manager (Q -- like in Star Trek TNG!) refused to take my reusable. After diligence and logical dialogue, including information on Assembly Bill 691 and the sad truth of "compostable foodware", Q still decided to turn down my reusable based on, perhaps pride? Entropy is inevitable in a business sometimes. Perhaps the health of the business through staff retention, joy, and community integrity will bring in a new wind.

I used to live in oakland. I love to visit and support local companies- I always try to visit the well. This time was disappointing. I ordered 2 drinks and some awesome products -128$ worth. After waiting 30 min (pretty typical ) I asked if my buzzer was workin. They said it was. But I proceeded to hear them tell others the buzzers were not working. After 45 min I asked again and was rudely treated - with a we will let you know when it's ready. After almost an hour- after a walk around the block - I timidly asked again - and they replied- oh sorry. It was broken. Sorry bout that ? Like what. ? Customer service people. Be kind ! Very disappointing coming from such a conscious establishment

This place saved me from an ER visit!I’ve been struggling with a worsening condition of being unable to eat. Having no appetite, I’ll forget to eat until sometimes 5 or 6pm. By that time, stomach acid causes me so much pain that I was eating ice cream every night to soothe it.I know how horrible it sounds and I won’t even say how long I let it go on, saying I was going to eventually go to the doctor for it. I gained weight living on ice cream so I was able to procrastinate even more.Recently, I have not even been able to eat ice cream and have become progressively worse, weak, and food adverse. I didn’t think I would make it to Tuesday to get into Urgent Care. I went to the ER yesterday but saw the full parking lot from the heat wave and went home to be sick in private with more dignity than a hospital lobby. This morning, I woke up and ordered over $100 worth of food from here as soon as they opened. I knew that I used to like, and could handle the mochi buns. Since the sugar would help my blood sugar and keep me going, I went for it. It was a gamble to order the rest because I’ve thrown away hundreds of dollars worth of food since this started.I knew that the ingredients would sustain my body, even if I could only eat a little bit.If I forced myself to eat first thing in the morning, I could probably beat this, if diligent, until the doctors could help. The porridge was exactly what I needed!Soup broth and rice were so soothing that it was like a huge bandaid on an open wound. Huge relief.I was so worried about the flavoring. Many Asian fusion-type places use spicy ingredients and I was worried about the chili oil but they used them just enough to make it delicious while unassuming.I could go on all day but I wrote this hoping that someone reading will have or know someone who is sick and struggling to eat. This isn’t a restaurant as much as it really is a food remedy source.

This place has a lot of potential but is so inconsistent. There are always different people working in here and I think that is part of the problem. I eat here about once a week. I really liked the cashew butter banana smoothie which is no longer available. I usually get the strawberry one instead. Last week I ordered it and it was missing an ingredient that makes it slightly sweet. It was inedible, awful. Yesterday we got the tuna melt and avocado toast. The tuna melt usually comes with a side of green sauce. Yesterday it didn't. One time I got the avocado toast and when I opened the box it looked like a salad, you couldn't even see the toast under all the lettuce. That day it came with tahini dressing so clearly whoever made it thought it was a salad too. I wish they would get it together. The prices do not reflect on the quality, at all.

I love healthy nourish bowls. Sadly, this place did not live up to the hype. I ordered the tuna power bowl and the iced vanilla matcha latte. For 1 drink and 1 lunch bowl, my total came up to $27 which is on the pricier side of healthy food. First, the latte was so bland and there were chunks of matcha at the bottom of my cup. I took 2 sips and didn't even want to drink the rest of it. The bowl itself was very mid. It had tuna salad, wild rice, pickled beets, avocado, carrots, cabbage slaw with a green sauce. I am not sure why but the food made me feel sick. I only finished the bowl because I felt bad for spending $30 on a meal, and taking 2 bites.

Excellent holistic eatery! I had turmeric daikon bowl and it was one of the most nourishing meals I had in awhile while out. So good. My friend had an avocado toast she loved it too. Great service and lovely music.

The vegan power bowl was very tasty! A bit on the expensive side. The karma drink was essentially sage tea which was okay. Really appreciate their karma bowl concept for those who need it Their bathroom was extremely stinky, hoping it's something they can fix in future,

Uhhh so their website has a coupon to get $5 off on your first order, and in order to do so, you have to give them your contact info, so phone and email, then you get the coupon code. I was given my code then put it in instantly after and it was supposedly expired. Tried to fix it for the last 15 minutes, to no avail. Wasting my time. To solve the problem, I call them up. Some lady picks up, says no managers are here, can't help you, you can email them. I go to website and cannot find their email. In total, wasted 20 minutes of my life, and now they have my contact info. Can't wait for the spam! I feel like they basically stole my contact info, I'm obviously heated, and hangry. Can't eat here now out of principle. Maybe manager can hmu to fix idk but seems shady that I give my contact info then coupon is expired. Now the kitchen is closed, so I can't eat there even if I wanted to without the coupon. They won this battle, and they will win the war, the war of spam.

I have only had the smoothies here so far. While I waited for my smoothie I looked looking at the art work on the wall. I also really liked the gold tables it looked pretty. When you check in on yelp you get 1 free mochi cake which was delicious. The smoothie I got was a berry one with Almond milk it was good I ordered it the second time I went there. The Spicy tuna bowl looked good I seen a couple with with it. The have lots of vegan options as well. Staff was friendly. Parking is on the side I believe but I always get parking up front. The art work around the front door of the restaurants is gorgeous.
