Giraffe ABUSERS! Fire your “expert”

Food was okay. Customer service was subpar. Would highly advise eating before coming in/bringing your own lunch if allowed.

I love the Oakland Zoo! Love to see how the animals are cared for and kept in as natural habitats as possible!

A very nice zoo with large environments for animals from around the world. There are also some great views across the bay. Reasonably priced tickets, but buy online at zoo website. Be sure to take the gondola up to the higher California trail level for some great views as well as native California animals. We saw eagles, condors, buffalo and a wolf. Unfortunately the bears, grizzly and black , were hiding. The Australia exhibit is only accessible by taking the small train, which is an extra $6 per person. We had to wait for an emu to be shooed off the tracks. Plan carefully as they close early, 3PM on weekdays🥰

I tried to order at the register because the kiosk has a fee and the person up front ignored me as I stood there for ten minutes

Ordered a veggie wrap, the lady have that ready under 1 min(from freezer probably) and handed me a freezing cold wrap, I asked how am I going to eat this and can you toast it or give me one at room temp, the lady said no toast and this is expected.
The menu is not marked as cold wrap etc. it’s not eatable basically unless I put it under the sun for an hour.
Not sure who would eat this cold wrap and enjoy it. The attitude from that lady is also bad, no understanding and don’t want to resolve the problem. No wonder ppl complaining about this place.

Animal abusers and thieves

Horrible customer service.

Don't expect people to walk across the park to get a cup of water from the drinking fountain when they are paying to eat at your restaurant.

If you want to move the fountain drinks so they aren't self serve then be prepared to provide water when people ask for it.

I won't be coming here again.

they have an animal abuser on their staff (helped steal a giraffe and repeatedly slammed gates into him and permanently damaged his hoof, and left him without food or water. never was positive reinforcement used to try and move the giraffe).

Amy Phelps should be fired for animal cruelty. There is video evidence of her slamming a gate on a giraffe, using a hotshot paddle, and shaking a tarp to scare him into a trailer. The animal was clearly distressed and sustained injuries during this process. It’s despicable! Do better Oakland Zoo!

It’s about time you gave Osh, the elephant, his freedom. Now, what about the other animals you keep imprisoned there?

Definitely recommend going, it is well kept. People who work there inform and answer any questions you might have about the animals on site. Animals have water , food and lots of shaded areas. There’s benches all over the zoo, lots of restrooms not far from each other and playground area for the little ones. You can take your own snacks and drinks and they have snack and food sold there too

Ordered 2 3pc chicken tenders with cheesey fries and Garlic fries.

Took about 45mins of wait to get the food.
The tenders and fries came in a bowl soaked with oil underneath.. couldn’t eat a single on the plate after looking at the oil the food was drenched in. Disgusting. We have 2 toddlers and I can’t let them
Eat such filth ever.

Kids meal was 1 chicken tender, 1 small bag of goldfish, 1 cup of apple sauce, and a small half pint milk for $8.99. Tasted good but easy to pricey.
