It's been about 7 years since my original review -- and I have to confess: Two Mammas Vegan Kitchen has not been the same since the original owners left the helm. I visited many times over the years and found the service to be variable but they mostly stuck with the recipes. Today was the first time I have eaten on site at the restaurant -- I was disappointed that the staff were not wearing masks (but did reluctantly put them on when I pointed out this is a requirement of the county). The food is all served in to-go containers, even for eating on site. The mushroom florentine has always been my favorite but the recipe for the hollandaise has changed substantially -- now it's more like the almond butter gravy that was super popular at Portland-area vegan restaurants around 10 years ago or so. It's different but not better. Still adequate vegan fare but not special. I'll hold out for Millennium to start serving brunch again!

Just Had The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich With Side Salad! It Was Tastey. Little Bit To Salty For My Licking But Its Probably The Buffalo Sauce. The Salad Was Good! Definitely Trying This Place Again Tho.. Need To Try Their Other Meals.

I adore this place. Will drive or even Bart all the way out from the city just for the food!

Gee, was it wrong for me to expect Aretha Franklin to come out of the kitchen as Mrs. Murphy from "The Blues Brothers" and tell me to stick my four fried chickens where the sun don't shine? When I saw the name, I figured she and Patti LaBelle must've opened a place in Fruitvale even though Aretha sadly passed away. I could still see her raise the roof on "Think" in this place, but no, it's very calm with no Motown choreography. Jamie W. and I came over upon my suggestion by BART. Of course, we saw the Oscar Grant mural and realized that oh yes, it was THAT station. We girded our loins to walk the two industrial blocks to the cafe where we reviewed the intriguing menu. Indulgent-sounding benedicts and waffles were listed with California-custom dishes like Gluten-Free Tofu Scramble and Gluten-Free Granola. Sense a pattern? As tempting as that was, we both flipped our menu to the lunch selections and went on a more predictable path. Jamie ordered the $11 Rosemary Chicken Salad which of course wasn't real poultry. It was soy chicken on a bed of massaged kale salad. Who massages kale but Californians anyway? Almonds, strawberries, and balsamic dressing completed the vegan picture (photo: It was delicious. Almost as delicious as my order, the $11 Spicy Buffalo Soy Chicken Ranch Salad. This faux-chicken was seasoned in spices and layered over spinach leaves and slices of tomato and avocado. An artistic spiral of ranch dressing was splooged on top, and the result was fresh and satisfying (photo: Cue for Aretha to belt her solo showstopper..."Freedom (freedom), oh, oh freedom (freedom)...Freedom, oh freedom..." FOOD - 4 stars...very fresh salads, quite tasty for all the fake chicken AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...not what we expected, more like a coffee cafe vibe SERVICE - 4 stars...quietly effective TOTAL - 4 stars...someday we'll meet the two mammas, right? Food was delicious!! Fresh crusty bread for sandwiches, almond hummus and tasty veggies, including sprouts! Dill and vinegar potato salad was yummy, tofu scramble and kale salad with fresh berries. Kind service.

I love the food here, however I think ordering through uber eats is the reason I shared my money because after pulling up today, and experiencing the customer service- It's a no for me.It's not what you do, it's how you do.

I love this spot! The owner is super friendly and welcoming. They have so many delicious options. My go-to is the chicken salad sandwich. It's so fresh and comes with a side of green salad or potato salad. It's hard to decide which side I want because they are both so yummy! Check them out! Visit: 4/3/22 Vegan options: Everything! Parking: Street Parking Quality of food: Superb! Other Suggestions: Belgian Waffle, Sausage breakfast sandwich, tofu scramble, house smoothie, fresh squeezed OJ

Hello, what a lovely vegan kitchen. I got the smoothie of the day which was yummy and so filling. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and it comes with potato salad on the side. The filling of the sandwich was SOOOOO tasty. The bread was crunchy and fresh, so good. The vegan chicken was delicious and I will be back soon. Super nice staff served me, friendly and very helpful, sweet vibes all round.

Small portions, a little bit overpriced. Giving four stars because the whole place is vegan. I really wanted to give this place five stars. But the small portions, such as a side of potato salad, was like six dollars, and the portion is just so small. The menu is a bit limited for gluten-free options.

Delicious vegan breakfast sandwiches I specifically love the bacon gouda, it's so flavorful. The sausage one is tasty as well but if you don't eat cheese the gouda flavor of the first is spot on, even if I'm getting something else I order one of those for later. I also really like the buffalo chicken salad but it is on the smaller side so if you're really hungry you might want to get something (may I suggest the bacon gouda sandwich? lol) along with it. The only miss for me was the smoothie, it tasted like a pretty basic berry banana blend and was pretty small so I'd skip that in the future, I think I also just had high expectations based on their food though.

Randomly picked this place out last minute before leaving the area and am very glad we tried it. I was hesitant about the potato salad just because of how it looked but then I tasted it and wished I had an entire bowl to myself. So so good. I got the buffalo chicken ranch sandwich and actually really liked it even though buffalo isn’t my favorite flavor. The ranch that I could taste was incredible. Great meal.

Got the Rosemary Chicken and Kale salad - really good and filling. I tried a piece of my friend's spicy chicken - definitely had a kick. I don't think I would want to eat a whole sandwich of it though. Would like to come back and try some more items but a lot of what was on the menu didn't sound too healthy (lol) and I was trying to eat less carbs. I was worried the service would be slow because of some of the reviews but I came on a Saturday morning around 11 and got my food right away but there wasn't many other people there at the time.

Two Mama's is ok. I'm not happy with the operation hours but the food is decent when you get it. The breakfast sandwiches are my top picks when visiting.

Excellent vegan food, atmosphere, and service! We decided to arrive at 3:30pm on Sunday to avoid the early brunch / lunch crowd we assumed there may be from other reviews. We had the mushroom Florentine with potato salad and the veggie sandwich with kale / strawberry salad. It was all great.

Had the Mushroom Florentine, Veggieful sandwich and orange juice. Loved all of them. The Mushroom Florentine was my favorite. Definitely coming back for that.
