They have so many different types of meats from so many types of animals. It's pretty incredible. From baby octopus to squab, to quail, venison, Bison, chicken, Shrimp, lamb, goat, lobster tail, ox tail and many types of poultry that I've never heard of. Really nicely dressed in butcher's white coat, and I didn't feel rushed. They take courteous time to make sure they've helped you to your satisfaction. I know where to go to get great service and to find unique pieces of meats.

Go to meat shop for holidays and any occasion deserving of a special meal. Service is old school friendly and you can order ahead for pick up. Worth the drive from anywhere in the East Bay.

I miss the owner, Jerry. He's been out sick for a long time, in fact I think ever since the beginning of the pandemic. With him there, this shop was excellent. Now, not so much. They ground the fish for me for passover. The resulting mixture was so watery that we could barely shape it for gefelte fish. :( This never happened when Jerry was in charge. I hope he is going to recover, and maybe he can find someone who could help him run the store and maybe even take over.

What's happened to these guys? I get COVID is causing all of us to be overworked. But they don't answer their phones, when they do, they are rude, unhelpful, and most unpleasant to deal with. This is 2 instances over the last month. It took 4 phone calls today to finally get them to even answer, and when they did they told me they couldn't help me with an order for 3 pounds of salmon and just hung up. Taking my fish business elsewhere. Berkeley Bowl or Marina Fish in San Leandro.

I have loved this butcher shop for more than 30 years. A real butcher shop. I get soo nervous, as I don't know the cuts of meat very well, and every single time they have helped me make the best choice. Very busy during the holidays but worth the wait. That whole block is amazing food shopping. Coffee, produce, dairy, flowers, wine, butcher, bakery, pizza, juice. It's what I imagine an European market would be. Bring a big market bag or two and enjoy the stroll.

This is one of my go-to places for high-quality cuts of meat. These guys know their business, and that's providing professional butchery products and services at a fair price. No wonder there's always a line out the door for holiday centerpiece roasts, even pre-COVID. They sharpen knives too, but not during the holiday rushes, so plan accordingly.
