It pains me to write a not that great review for this spot because it used to be our favorite but it has changed. We were running 10 mins late and I called before hand and the person told me to just know that there is a table after mine. I thought I would have heard, thanks for calling but that was not the case. When we arrived 10 mis late we were greeted by a sour face that pointed to 2 tables and said take anyone. Thank God the waitress was super sweet and warm. The food was ok, the meal that we travel for was not that hot this time. The chop was not trimmed and a bit pink. The white beans were missing and sausage in sauce was not so great. My husband and daughter had the steak with was not like it used to be. Some chimichurri sauce or something was served with it where horseradish was served in the past. The waitress was the saving grace. My birthday dinner was memorable, but not in a good way and I was happy to leave this time. They say restaurants come and go, this one stayed but was lackluster at best. I don't think we will return with so many other nice places to eat at in Oakland...

Well made cocktails and the always delicious burger just fell a little flat at our Sunday night dinner... it was a very cold night in berkeley and we couldn't warm up for the entirety of our dinner.

I love the Wood Tavern, and I will always dine here and recommend the restaurant. I think our server must have been new, or maybe they were just having an off night, but our food took a long time (only 2 of us), and we had a later reservation, so the restaurant was only half full if even that much. We asked about our mains because after an hour and 15 min they still had not been served, at the end of the evening we flagged down our waiter so we could pay as he was talking to the bartender. Overall, food and drinks were great, but our waiter was inattentive throughout the evening which made me wonder if he forgot to put our order in the system. The table next to us was in the same situation and we were all openly chatting about the delay, as this was an anomaly for both of us.

Went to celebrate a birthday and it was one of the best meals we've ever had! Each dish was incredibly tasty (the pork chop is an absolute must!), the server was great—there when you needed him but didn't intrude—and the atmosphere was really comfortable and lively. A wonderful experience from beginning to end.

Wonderful dinner. Had to wait about 30min on Friday night(no res) which wasn’t too bad. I had a small cut on my thumb and needed a bandaid, and hostess kindly gave me one.
Our waitress Gabi was extremely attentive and kind. We asked whether to go for ribeye or pork chop. She said both are good, but many people come for their pork chop.
We got burrata crostini to start with, pork chop, and casarecce. They were all great. Burrata crostini was delightful. Pork chop was juicy and flavorful. I ordered bread to eat all the sauce, which was gooood. Casarecce exceeded our expectations as well. Look at the plates that we cleaned up!
Will def come back in the future. Oh, the icecreams were really good too, a pleasant surprise. “Payday” icecream especially was amazing.

We LOVE Wood Tavern. It's always reliably outstanding for food and cocktails. We always leave so satisfied. My only hesitation in choosing this location is the noise level. Its busy and full which can be vibrant, but also difficult for a proper conversation.

The seared ahi tuna salad was the best I ever had. Every other item on the menu looked creative and fresh. Very friendly and impeccable service. Will definitely be back for an elevated lunch (well priced too)!

While I have always loved this restaurant and its food, the service last night (for our anniversary dinner) was absolutely atrocious. My partner and I do not drink; when we told our waiter that we didn't want alcohol, his face suddenly dropped and showed very little interest in serving us. My partner and I felt very uncomfortable, so we ordered as little food as possible to get out of there more quickly. Being made to feel like a second-class citizen because we don't drink is unacceptable, nor is it good for business. I'm going to believe that this was an aberration; I've been here many times and this was the first negative experience I've had here. I just hope I get a different waiter the next time I visit Wood Tavern.
