I did indeed like Blackmarket Bakery...the layout, the clean, casual ambience, the friendly service, our rich & tasty coffee drinks, plus 2 out of 3 baked goods we bought, & tried. My pecan roll had soft delicious dough, quite a few chopped pecans, plus it had a little ooie gooey going on...but could've used more.My wife enjoyed her cinnamon roll too, which was made with the same dough as my pecan roll.Their Chocolate Raspberry Scone was the only thing we weren't crazy about. The scone was dry, & the dough must've been overworked, since texture-wise, it was too dense. Adding more bits of chocolate, or raspberry certainly wouldn't have hurt either.Blackmarket Bakery offers a few hot breakfast sandwich options, on light & flaky croissants...they sell fancy baked treats, packaged cookies, as well as fresh-baked breads & rich & satisfying coffee drinks, featuring Vigilante Coffee. There's a parking lot in front of the bakery. This lot is not large, & it's shared with 2 other businesses, so you may also park on the street, in front of the bakery, if the parking lot is full.Blackmarket Bakery has a nice, clean restroom inside, as well. This O-side bakery was a good find, and we'll definitely be back!

Obsessed is an understatement. Absolutely everything we have tried here has been phenomenal! The bacon/jalapeño croissants, the scones, pretzels, breakfast sandwiches and deli sandwiches... I have always been the type of person to stick with my regular order at places because they tend to be tried and true for me but I have no problem branching out here because I know the next pastry will be as good as any! The staff here is incredibly sweet and welcoming. I read about the triple tax on here which would make sense for my visit over their soft opening weekend when it somehow cost $60+ for two coffees, two pastries and a breakfast sandwich but I really appreciate reading about how they refunded customers who were accidentally charged such. Soft opening weekends can be chaotic! It's when businesses get a chance to work out the kinks before officially opening. We're really looking forward to buying their freshly baked loaves of bread & even more so towards their extended hours whenever that may come! Welcome to the neighborhood Blackmarket, we're delighted to have you here!

Came here after having had lunch next door and decided to get something sweet so we stopped here. We had already had coffee so we decided on just getting some pastries. We decided on a hazelnut and chocolate twist and pecan cinnamon roll. What was even better is that's we came at their happy hour time so the pastries were half off. You can't beat that. The girl behind the counter was very helpful answering our questions in regard to what the pastries were. The place was nice and clean with lots of sitting space. We loved both of the pastries that we selected. They would have even been better with a coffee , maybe next time.

You've got to try this place! If you long for authentic, buttery, crispy, perfectly baked croissants, you will find them here!!! They are indeed more expensive than most, but absolutely worth it. Memories of Paris came flooding back. It took me three sittings to finish the almond one, with almond paste, shaved almonds and powdered sugar. Just divine!!!! Will have to try other offerings. Breads looked wonderful. Everything is made on site, with care and obvious understanding of what baking is all about!

Our drinks and pastries were delicious. Staff showed great customer care when our online order was ready later than expected. Everything was worth the wait! Will be coming back again!

Such a cute bakery! We had a few pastries and a breakfast sandwich, and everything was so fresh and full of flavor. Seriously amazing croissants! The lattes were pretty good too, maybe just needs some better signage because it was easy to miss. The place was really clean, and the service was kind and welcoming too. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

Fantastic pastries and great sandwiches. Casual atmosphere. Parking is super difficult.. Small and shared with other eateries. On our regular visit list. Just opened 6 weeks ago so the service may be a little slower. Half off all noon refrigerated pastry 12-2!!! So we ordered twice as much. This bakery is amazing! Starting off with the staff! So so friendly! I had no idea what I wanted and really took my time ordering, I didn't feel rushed at all! The sandwiches were simple and personally I love simple! The desserts were so yummy, I got a Girl Scout cookie (Samoa) style cheesecake which was literal perfection! Whomever thought of that idea is so creative! Also got a snickerdoodle cookie which was super soft! I'm sorry to the business owner for not taking pictures!! I just had to eat them right away! Excited to come back and enjoy some of the pre packaged tea cookies soon!

This is a spacious and welcoming establishment. The pastries all look fantastic. We got Pain Suisse which is a croissant with pastry cream and chocolate, and a toothsome chocolate hazelnut twist. The coffee is roasted by Vigilante. The staff is patient, helpful and knowledgeable. We will be back for lunch because the Figaro and the Ranch Hand sound great.

It's great to see another Blackmarket Bakery open up. We frequent the OC location but go to the San Diego location with friends when we're down that way as well! The baked goods here are always amazing, our favorites are the raspberry chocolate chip scone and berry poppins but honestly everything we've had there tastes amazing. Friendly staff and quality food, can't ask for more!

I was really looking forward to checking out this new Bakery in South O. But man, what a letdown. I had high hopes for it to become my new go-to spot, but after this visit, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. First off, the selection of pastries and baked goods was pretty disappointing, especially considering the size of the place. By the time I got there around 11 am on Saturday, there wasn't much left to choose from. My husband settled for the Jalapeño and bacon croissant, which he said was just okay--nothing special. As for me, I ordered the gobbler sandwich, and let me tell you, it was a total letdown. For $14.42, I expected something amazing, but what I got was a sad excuse for a sandwich--barely any meat between two sad slices of bread and some floppy bacon. I couldn't even finish half of it. And don't even get me started on the chai latte. Ugh. There are way better bakery and coffee shops nearby that offer tastier food, better drinks, and much friendlier service, all for a lot less money. The staff here were not welcoming at all, especially to first-time customers with questions. Overall, I was really disappointed with this place, and I'll definitely be looking for better options elsewhere.

So darn happy to have a local bakery - and one with bread! I know that sounds odd to say that I am happy to see a bakery with bread. Isn't that the core of a bakery? You'd think. However, visualize any other bakery in Oceanside (there are only a couple) and note that NONE have bread - a loaf of bread! I have always been disturbed by the 34 ingredients in grocery store breads. Even the breads in grocery stores that are packaged to look like they were baked there in the store (most were not) are filled with unrecognizable stuff. The ingredients list says it all. Alas, I have been on the hunt to find something with the short list of ingredients that I recognize. . First time I walked in I could see through the glass partition between me and the kitchen a giant bowl with about 30 eggs in it being whisked by a young man in a spotless kitchen. On the shelf behind him were various bags of flower and what I suspected must be the live yeast. In front of me, below the glass partition, was a small selection of bread ranging from Sour Dough to Dutch Crunch. I picked one up. The plastic wrap around the bread was open at one end because the bread was still warm and needed to breath!. I took it home unsliced (they will run it through the slicer if you want). I have been back every week since. One week my favorite was sold out so I needed to hang out for 20 minutes until the next batch came out. The place is pleasant and easy to hang out in. It smells like the crossroads of heaven and earth. So I did not mind waiting. I got a cup of coffee and sat for a while watching people come and go until my loaf of choice was ready. I have had one of their breakfast sandwiches, their fresh scones, and a couple other items. It's all good. I will let other reviewers focus on the rest of the business. I am hear to tell you, for a few bucks more than big box store bought crap, you can get this bread instead. I suggest you eat their bread slowly, smell it, feel it, put real butter on it. It's has the experience like remembering something - something from the past - something real.
