Came in for an early dinner and to try this place out. Have heard many things via social media.
For starters, we got complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was good IMO, though the rest of the table thought it was too spicy.
For drinks we chose a Mexican Candy ($15) and Hibiscus Margarita ($14). They were okay. I think not really worth the price (barely any buzz). I'll probably stick with a beer next time but that's okay.
For food, we ordered the Chile Relleno & Cheese Enchilada ($20), Queso Birria Taco Plate ($18) and for me, the Fajita Mixta ($26).
Everyone liked their food. For me, I've had better fajitas elsewhere (Mariscos Hualtulco is my fav) but these were still good (except no green bell pepper for some reason). I noticed the *new* menu price for the fajitas was $29 (Mixta), but on the bill it was still $26 (old menu price). So be aware, the new price is coming obviously. I want to try the Molcajete but $38 is a stretch!
Atmosphere was okay. It was a Saturday and although it was early, I expected a more vibrant feel, but maybe that comes later in the night. There was plenty of seating. Parking was okay, but the lot was oddly packed however even though the restaurant was not.
I would come back to try something else on the menu, but with so many great Mexican options in our area, they need that extra something to attract more patrons. A happy hour with $10 margs for starters would be nice.

Went with a friend and we both got the chilaquiles with green sauce. Absolutely delicious, and I’ll be dreaming about them tonight! I need to go back ASAP!
Wonderful service and staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend Evaga Lounge!

This is my third time at Evaga and the food is consistently awesome. Try the Molcajete and plan to share it. The carne asada fajitas were the best I've had at a restaurant. Their refried beans are delish.
Check it out, tell a friend. You won't be disappointed.

After visiting the San Diego Safari Park we stopped on our way back to Orange County for an early dinner to wait out rush hour. I had seen a picture of their molcajete during my search for a good place and asked the waiter if it was enough for two, or if we should get an appetizer. He dissuaded us from getting anything else, and he was right: it was more than enough for two, and it was so good, we still finished it after being already full.
Shrimp, chicken, beef, cactus, cheese, grilled onion and jalapeño, - and a spicy salsa: everything was delicious.
Both employees were hospitable and warm, acting more like owners than workers (maybe they were...)
I wouldn't go there for a romantic first date: it's more or less one big room and doesn't lend itself to that kind of atmosphere: big screen TVs with sports, simple furniture, plain (and clean).
But a prissy dining establishment is not what we came for, and it's not what the place wants to be. It's all about good food and good service: we got both.
I'll definitely go there again if/when I'm in the area, and try some of their other dishes.

Honestly good food and good margarita, though looks quite unpretentious in a strip mall. Come and you won’t regret, I promise!

Evaga Lounge is an absolute must-visit Mexican restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with a warm, family-friendly local vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. The local owners truly care, and it shows in every detail—from the service to the food to the atmosphere. After our first visit, they told us “welcome home”… and that’s exactly how it felt.
The food is unreal!!!!! Everything is homemade, from-scratch, family-style recipes that deliver the most authentic and delicious Mexican flavors I’ve had anywhere around. The freshly made corn and flour tortillas, made daily, are next level—soft, warm, and so good I honestly haven’t found anything that compares. The salsas, the meats, the flavors… every bite is incredible.
And don’t sleep on the drinks—the craft cocktails are THE BOMB. The Mexican Candy cocktail with mezcal is insanely good and totally unique.
Evaga Lounge is a truly special local spot—authentic, welcoming, and destined for greatness. This is officially our new go-to, and in my opinion, the best Mexican food I've found in San Diego County. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and get down there ASAP!!!! Avaga Lounge is straight up on another level. Trust me when I say this place will probably end up on one of those Food Network tv shows for amazing food with the most chill family friendly environment. GO NOW!!!

We came Up to Oceanside, California from Chula Vista San Diego area, we have a lot of Mexican restaurants in Chula Vista, this was the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! Their homemade burritos are so delicious! None of the food was greasy. Everything was made fresh! Guacamole was to die for the chips and the salsa were delicious. Service was wonderful and the Pepsi had a big bite to it when you drank it and those of you that drink so don’t know what I mean when I say it has a big bite to it! Just really pleased with the restaurant today thank you so much!
