Have been coming here for like 15 years. Historically, it has been a 4.5-5 rated - consistent doughnut shop. Tasty. Fresh.
I’m guessing there is new ownership, as it’s a bit different decor and different folks serving and I’m sure baking. Still nice and professional folks.
Mainly, the quality of the doughnuts are down. I’m not sure if they didn’t get the recipes or just decided to go their own way.
The cake doughnuts especially are like half of the size of what they used to be. Not the crisp outer, with soft cakey interiors. Just dense small skinny rounds. The whole case of cake doughnuts was like this- so I don’t think it was just a bad batch. Wish I had had my camera in the shop. Did not taste good.
The raised doughnut tasted ok - but, just not like they used to be. Hope it was just a bad day. Will try again.

This place is a diamond. Everything morsel of deliciousness comes out of their kitchen. These people have mastered the art of donuts and pastries. I stumbled in here one morning after a nearby appointment, not expecting much, and I was blown away. The combination of taste and price gets 5 stars across the board for me. I come to this shopping center often but had never noticed this donut shop before. You'd be missing out if you don't stop in and try something. This will be added into my morning routines for treat days more often.

Sam’s donuts have the best Apple fritters and cinnamon rolls around this area!! We tried others in Oceanside and nothing compares!! We’ve been coming here since 2010. We had moved to Texas back in 2018 and couldn’t find Apple fritters like Sam’s Donuts!! We were very disappointed! We have came back to Oceanside and very happy that we did bc now we’re enjoying our Apple fritters from Sam’s Donuts again! Love love love my Apple fritters from Sam’s Donuts!!❤️❤️?

This is my first online order with Sam’s Donut Shop on the Door Dash App. I ordered the Ham and Swiss Cheese Bagel Sandwich. The price was $7.00. Then I ordered 5 Assorted Donuts. These donuts were One Creme Cheese Croissant, One Blueberry Croissant, One Lemon Jelly Donut, One Maple Bar and one Chocolate Covered Round Donut. The total cost I spent was $22.87. This Ham and Swiss Cheese Bagel was very delicious. These 5 assorted donuts were also really yummy.
