The most enjoyable course was the moist, lemon scented towel served after the lobster taco. It smelled better than any of the dishes (including dessert) and might have tasted better too. This, unfortunately, was a miss all the way around. Ambiance was average, as were sat in the bar area, completely split off from the rest of the restaurant, not even able to take in the views of the kitchen or experience of the dining room. The food wasn’t good. I couldn’t finish any of the courses. Not because they were too large, because the flavors were so awful. Chicharon soup (why?). I’m usually a dessert person but even this let me down. Something akin to a panna cotta but wrong texture and flavor. And an ice cream equally as off in flavor.Like everyone else that has left a sub par review, the 20% service charge is just insulting on top of the high price tag. They do make sure to explain it when they bring the bill as to try and mitigate the shock. There is no reason this restaurant should have a Michelin star. It’s misleading. I feel robbed of my time and money.

My wife and I have spent far more on a dinner than we did at Valle and walked away feeling great about it. That was not the case here. The $485 price of a 4 course dinner for two was grossly overpriced for the small portions and terrible flavors that we were served. The small bites were bland. The lobster taco was no better than what you would get at the corner Mexican fast food restaurant. The rabbit dish was so over salted it was hardly edible. The deserts were simply disgusting so we left them uneaten. The $100+ wine paring were all sub par Mexican wines. Michelin should be seriously concerned that they have someone that bastardized a star by awarding it to this restaurant. I have to believe they were bought off. Long story short, do NOT spend your money here, you will regret it. Even if it was at half the price, you will regret it. Oh yeah, then they auto charge a 20% tip. I will say the wait staff are nice and trained wel. But wait… there’s more… my wife found a hair in her food too! No joke! Shoot, I just remembered another frustrating element. They asked if we wanted water and automatically served bottled water that they charged us $14 for!!!!!! REALLY? Highway robbery all the way around…

Phenomenal! We’ve eaten at nearly every Michelin starred restaurant in San Diego county (Addison, Soichi, Juene et Jolie) and, while we loved each experience, we enjoyed Valle the most overall. Others had more creative dishes or more highly polished service, but Valle struck a great balance between excellent service, wonderful tasting food, great atmosphere, and friendliness.

My friend and I decided to splurge on a Michelin restaurant during our stay in San Diego and made the adventure north to Valle.Upon arriving, there was a prolonged silence after the mention of our name and reservation time— if only I could go back to this moment in time and promptly exit. They escorted us outside to sit on an empty patio in 60 degree weather. When requesting an indoor seat, it was suggested that we specifically asked for an outdoor seat (which was not the case). I love a good deflection of error onto the well-paying guest.During the meal, we requested use of the restrooms which were inconveniently located outside and around the corner. The waiter pointed and described the direction to proceed. An 8 year old boy from the hotel next door was actually the more courteous one, showing us the location of said restroom.I would describe our meal as simply “edible.”It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. I’ve traveled to many countries, eaten at some amazing restaurants, and would describe my taste as upscale. At Valle, I felt like we were playing “house” at a Michelin star restaurant. The prices, portions, food descriptions, and even appearance of the plated dishes were all upscale, but the taste was far from that. In our 10 course meal, there’s not a single dish I desire to waste my saliva on in the future. Rather than a dinner for two at Valle, a better use of my $573 would have been to burn cash for a bonfire and make some tasty s’mores. Highly recommend drinking enough to make the night memorable so you don’t fully regret your choice of restaurant.

I’ve been in a lot of Michelin restaurants before in different countries but I can say for sure that this place is one of the best that I ever been. Excellent food for such a low price. Good service. Will be back 100%

The overall service and atmosphere was great. The food was very underwhelming. I didn’t have a lot of flavour and I ended up getting food poisoning. It was an expensive meal and not worth the money.

Wonderful friendly attentive staff, great food presentation and tastes. More than met our high expectations of a Michelin star restaurant.

My fiancé took me here for my birthday dinner and it was truly excellent. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the staff as a whole made the experience even more special. We even got to meet the chef and tour the kitchen. All of the art and glassware were actually from the area in Mexico that inspired valle! The vibes were impeccable.

Valle makes the Guadeloupe Valley come alive in San Diego. Great food, atmosphere, service and vibe! Highly recommend even at the price. We got one meat and one vegetarian. Fun to try both. Wine pairing also worth it and fun. We split a pairing and was right amount. Ask for a kitchen tour, culture of restaurant comes alive in the kitchen.

Overall food was great and excellent presentation and service. The fish was a little overcooked. Not fond of rabbit but substitute was $50 more for wagyu. They should have a regular steak instead for an even substitute.

What an awesome adventure in food. Hard to put into words. Kwon was our main server - not sure if that’s the right title because he did so much more than serve. The food was creative, flavorful, with textures, and delicious without being pretentious.Dietary restrictions: Tell them your needs and they find a solution.
