I am Ojai born and raised and a local. I am not a rich out of towner so keep in mind my perspective is different from most people who come here. But honestly this place would be great if everything was different. It doesn't have much going for it except for the great building. If their goal was to be massively pretentious, they have succeeded. Nearly $5 for a small coffee and guess what..... That's the only size. Tons of signs and products letting you know how great and sustainable they are but can't make a decent black coffee or latte. Seems like this place can do anything except provide good coffee at a decent price. They don't even have creamer out for people to dispense. Ojai is an amazing town and it attracts all types of people. So if you like this place I hope you enjoy. But you won't catch many locals here.

Pretentious. Over priced. And the the latte I'm pretty sure was just entirely hot milk. No coffee flavor or color to be found. Black coffee was undrinkable. Gas station coffee is better.

We've been quite disappointed in U.S. coffee since arriving from NZ a month ago. This gave us hope! Great flat whites!

Great 3rd wave coffee. Pastries were also delicious. Reliable, good vibes, great place to work, read a book, or hang with friends

Love the vegan/gluten-free treats (the cinnamon rolls are one of our favorites), husband loves the coffee, and the Wi-Fi is usually strong. The order line can be long at times, but it moves decently quickly and is worth the wait. Almost always able to find seats; only had to wait a couple minutes once in the few years we've gone here.

Great coffee, plenty of seating, and Wi-Fi is available. The interior is spacious and airy - great place to settle in and get some work done. If you’re around for May/June and want to try something different, get the seasonal pixie tangerine mocha ?☕️

Genuinely love this place... best coffee in Ojai. I come here from LA to get some work in. The staff is friendly, the aesthetic is wonderful and the coffee is great.I will say that the music is kept way too loud. I have already (I think nicely) asked to have it turned down and can still feel it in my ribs and through the table. It's good music. It's just way too loud. For example, after asking for it to be turned down a decibel reader has it at 87, which is kind of insane before noon.Maybe they could have better control of the speakers behind the counter and the ones in the main area could be kept at a volume where one can think?Other than that, a great place.

Have made SO many attempts at getting coffee here and they are closed most weekdays meaning locals can only get beans here when they have to fight the weekend crowds. The last few times the machine to grind was broken, now they are closed three days in the middle of the week even though the website says open 7-2 daily. After 4 attempts to buy coffee, we give up. Website said open 7-2 until I wrote review then owner changed it. Accusing someone of not having grace simply because they are frustrated that they visited the shop FOUR times while the website didn't say closed seems short sighted and rude. My time is as valuable as yours and having tried several times to be a patron only to be met with fluctuating hours is frustrating, especially when I've never been anything but thankful to your staff.

Suffering from Jet Lag, we needed really good coffee and found it at Beacon Coffee. It was so good that we returned every day we visited Ojai. They also offer pasteries, both savory and sweet. Friendly staff and did I say the coffee was excellent? No doubt!

Beautiful space! Lots of room to sit and natural light. Coffee was super tasty and reasonable price right in downtown Ojai

Went there twice over the weekend. The espresso was thick and perfect and happened to favor the beans and the roast. Calm and happy atmosphere in a very high ceiling spacious space. No one was using it as an internet cafe.

The Beacon has a nice atmosphere, although it can get busy in the mornings. Overall, I thought the coffee was very good and the baked items (we tried four) were mixed – some were decent and others not great. Service was good, even in the face of a relentless line of customers. I’m giving 4 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons: • Direct trade coffee (own mugs allowed) and some plant-based options. • Supports local, ethical brands like Revel kombucha and Sproutcraft plant-based cheese. • The Beacon Collective has a membership program that allows them to buy small lots of coffee and support small farms, or sometimes a farmer’s new direction. • The Beacon owners visit the farms that they purchase from and report on details of these direct trade relationships. Would be nice if they published price paid for green coffee, as more direct trade roasters are doing. • A little info is provided on sustainability, but not a huge amount. I’d like to know which ones are shade-grown, as that’s a really important feature of sustainable coffee. Some are certified by the Rainforest Alliance, which seems like a slightly strange choice for small, direct-trade farmers. I would have expected either no certification but more info on sustainability, or a stronger certification than RA, such as organic or Smithsonian Bird Friendly. • Beacon donates annually to community projects (you can apply on their website). One current coffee benefits the House Farm Workers fund.

Friendly service, delicious coffee, and a warm atmosphere. The croissants were also so crispy and fluffy! Perfect for breakfast
