Not really a fault of theirs, as our party of 2 arrived 55 mins before closing. The food is ALWAYS good here! It had been a slow night we overheard; only 2 other tables still occupied, but our service, although charming & sweet, was terrible! Young servers need to be trained, maybe, not to lose focus, on how the owners want the service to be presented. There was plenty of staff, yet it took forever to accomplish each step, ie., silverware...menus......,water, etc. I started to feel anxious because I knew we were running against closing time. We ordered a lot...special birthday. The food was great, but again, slow to be delivered, & not in congruous order. We got to-go -boxes, but some of our food got whisked a away without asking if we were done! Not good. But the food is always worth it!

Sooo delicious!! The Morro Bay roll is to die for, the sashimi is super yummy and clearly high-quality fish, and the dynamite lobster appetizer was the perfect balance to our meal. Also the miso soup had a strong miso flavor with a good amount of tofu chunks.

REVIEW YOUR BILL! Before ordering our meal, we asked our waitress about the various sake options. We considered them and made our choice. At the end of the meal, we happened to review our bill. Not only were we billed for the sake we in fact ordered, but we discovered our waitress billed us for the very expensive sake she suggested, that we did not order. So how it got onto our bill in the first place is a mystery. But it less like an accident and more like a practiced scam. We advise you don't go there, but if you do - be sure to review your bill!

A visit to Ojai wouldn't be complete without a visit to Hakane sushi- we're in love with their baked lobster and baked salmon roll. So soothing, so delicious. My daughter also loves their Agadashi tofu. Just tried a super good rice beer on our last visit. Highly recommend.

I came to Hakane on a Friday night, it was super busy, my friends and I waited for 30 mins to be seated. The ambiance was hectic and chaotic, the atmosphere and people working there seemed really stressed and understaffed. Thankfully the food made up for the service. My food was served hot and I highly recommend the Korean Beef Bulgogi if you're looking for a hot tasty plate. It also comes with a side salad, rice, and miso soup. They forgot to bring us menus and my friend did not get her food with us and when she got it her food was not hot. We had to constantly remind our waiter for menus, food, and condiments. I gave a 3/5, hopefully it was just a rough night and next time will be a better overall experience.

Had the omikase and tempura. Both were excellent. The hot sake seemed a little bland, but that helped the fish flavor.Parking: There’s a parking lot accessed from Hwy 150 (property is on a corner). It’s small and very tight. We were driving a F350 so when we saw the situation, we backed out and parked on the street.
