Having gone to many Izakaya in my life, I have always been disappointed by the fact that they make you take your shoes off and sit on the floor, eating off a table that is barely waist-high. The food is usually very fried and the oils they use upset my tummy. Also the nomi-hodai drinks are almost always heavily diluted. Unforgettable and unique Japanese food. We love this place. Sometimes the service is a bit snooty and too cool for school, but the relaxed atmosphere makes up for it. Be prepared to sit elbow to elbow with others in a very crammed place… and wait in line for ages since they don’t take reservations
Really nice outdoor patio. That’s where we are. We got there right when it opened so it was really easy to get a table. There’s not that many places in Ojai that my husband and I actually love, but this is one of them.
