This restaurant is a hidden gem of Orange. The food is authentic, unique, very tasty. Then drinks are one of my favorite parts. They have unique flavors and quality liquor. The service is also wonderful. Waiters are attentive and take a lot of pride in their work.

The food was amazing - we ordered the guac, chicken enchiladas and the corn and cheese empanadas, everything was delicious and the vibe is nice.

This restaurant is always a great choice! We’ve visited at least five times this year and tried a variety of dishes—you really can’t go wrong. Everything is consistently flavorful and delicious. The service is excellent, the space is clean and beautifully designed, and the cocktails are just as tasty as the food. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, which makes every visit enjoyable. Some favorites we highly recommend are the churro pastry, salsa macha, queso fundido, and handmade tortillas.

Amazing food and service! I highly recommend this place. Came here randomly on a Wednesday afternoon and was not disappointed. I had the Ribeye Tacos, Old Fashioned, and House Wine. Everything was top notch! The staff were super friendly.
A diamond in the rough. Where to start with this place? Tucked away in an unassuming area off Katella Ave, with a parking lot and entrance away from the street, one would not casually notice this restaurant and wander in on accident. I am not always a fan of fusion, but El Matatan succeeds in this area with flying colors. For appetizers, I ordered the Aguachiles and Purple Yam with bone marrow. Spot on! The aguachiles had a freshness unmatched and the yams were delicious. My entree was the ribeye tacos, an amazingly prepared minimalist taco with thinly sliced ribeye on taco shells. Slathered with their salsa Verde, it was an easy palate pleaser. Thier selection of tequilas is pretty good, and I was treated to a surprise, Lunazul Extra Anejo, a tequila that hinted of smoke and peat, like a scotch, but without the bite that comes with scotch, it went down smooth and easy. This place is a must try!

This place is a gem! The food is outstanding, the bar has one of the best selections of top-shelf whiskey and tequila I’ve ever seen, and the service is truly next level. Every detail made the experience unforgettable—highly recommend!

This was my second visit and I’m already a fan! The ribeye tacos I had the first time were incredible, and this time I tried the green chicken enchiladas—good flavor, though the chicken breast was a little dry. My server (who was wonderful!) suggested I try the chicken tinga enchiladas next time since they’re more moist.
What really makes this place stand out is how safe it is for gluten-free dining. I have celiac, and they not only understand cross-contact but have transitioned most of the menu to gluten-free. They even surprised me with a new 100% gluten-free churro (made with five GF flours!)—and it was absolutely delicious. A safe churro for celiacs is such a treat!
Highly recommend for both the food and the care they put into everything.

Finally got to visit this place after having it on my radar for a while and I'm glad I did because I was not disappointed. The drinks here are amazing! I really wanted to order everything on the menu!
Our server/ bartender was a star of the show and made sure that he helped us find not only a drink that we would like, but constantly check up on us to make sure that our food was to our liking. Not to mention, the restaurant itself is really beautiful and its display of exotic tequilas and low light making it perfect for a date night.
I got the ribeye tacos, which were absolutely amazing and a few drinks but the one that stood out the most was the Mezcal hibiscus drink that was literally on fire!
The enchiladas were solid, but nothing amazing that stood out but I wasn't mad about ordering them. Also, highly recommend the churros here. They are cooked in a funnel cake style that makes them crunchy and delicious.
I can definitely see myself coming back here again because of the amazing drinks and attentive staff.
Come here if you want to have some of the most delicious Mezcal and tequila cocktails in the area!

If you want real Cuban this is NOT the place. Ordered ropa veija and beef portion was the size of a baby’s fist layed on a bed of cold black beans and a side of a few table spoons of white rice. Not sure if they are going for Cuban style rationing, the lomo saltado was not as bad but cooked in vinegar sauce which over powered the plate. Atmosphere was nice but you’re paying more for that than the quality of the food. If your charging $14 for 2 empanadas that’s diabolical.

Tried this wonderful Latin fusion restaurant for lunch today with my son. I had the Cuban Sandwich (panini style) and, although absolutely DELICIOUS, VERY skimpy on both meats inside (served with steak fries and a marvelous, not to mention addictive, spicy ketchup). My son had the Mole Enchiladas (fantastic and UNIQUE mole sauce and homemade tortillas) served with white rice and a few plantains. He could not get enough of the incredible flavor and is already dying to go back and try other 2 types of Enchiladas. We also split an order of Yucca Fries served with a very interesting olive oil dip containing garlic and other spices. Absolutely delicious!! The restaurant is beautifully decorated as modern minimalist and is extremely well maintained and pleasantly relaxing. Plenty of FREE parking in the back. Prices are a bit steep, BUT the quality and unique ingredients justify pricing.

The food is good, the service is good. But it doesn't have a baby changing table, which makes me think that a restaurant that opened a year ago does not welcome families with babies, the curious thing is that they do have chairs for children but no changing table in the bathroom.
Wonderful flavors, great service, delicious drinks.
