The staff led by Omar are running a restaurant like you walked into a dear friend’s house. They’re not just there to serve you food but to provide you with an unforgettable experience and love of the Latin food and culture. You must come for excellent food and drinks. The surf and turf tacos are fantastic and the sauces they brought to sample were amazing!

What a great find! Just found El Matatan today looking for a new lunch place. We weren't disappointed ribeye tacos and mole enchiladas were so so good! Service is personal and friendly. They are well versed in their offerings and we're able to answer all of our questions - we had a few, as it was our first time here. We'll definitely be back to try the short rib tacos. Highly recommend this great little restaurant, where the atmosphere is really pleasant and the food is way above average. The churro with strawberry sauce and whipped cream at the end of the meal is the chefs kiss... literally!
This place rocks! The menu is a delightful fusion of South American cuisine, with almost every dish an inventive variation on classics you’d find elsewhere. The cocktails are just as creative. I love “The Last Word” — and they actually stock real green Chartreuse, which they spin into their Ultima Palabra using tequila instead of gin. Oscar, the owner, is personally involved in every aspect of your experience. I highly recommend this place.

The restaurant was able to accommodate our party of 9 with great service. We ordered a little of bit of everything, but by far my favorite was the flor de calabaza quesadilla (squash blossom quesadilla). The mole tacos could have done without the rice, as the plantain was served with it and it made for a very filling dish. Everything is made to order and it is very fresh! Depending on how you look at it, it can be very long wait to get your food or it can be very good freshly made. The location was a little suspect and the restaurant was a little dark, but they make up for it with the excellent service.

We had an absolutely amazing time finding this hidden gem on Cinco de Mayo Oscar the bartender made our night extra special. We can’t wait to come back and amazing food.

Party of 9 with 5 kids, love the decor. They sat us quickly. Ambiance was great for kids. (Side note: no changing table, but the car isn’t far). Plenty of parking in the back.
The food was delicious. We had the ribeye tacos, burger was mouthwatering, guacamole was perfect with just enough spice. We took 4 kids with us and they ate every bite of their chicken strips and quesadilla. Their enchiladas were fire. EVERYTHING was surprisingly delicious. We will be back again. You won’t regret it.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch at El Matatan with my sorority alumnae group. These ladies can be hard to please but we were all won over by the quality of the food and the charming owner--Oscar. Don't miss the homemade guacamole and tortillas and empanadas to start and the freshly cooked chroos to end! I had the Enchiladas Verdes and the green sauce was the perfect amount of spicy. The atmosphere was lively and the service was great.

Rare for me to start here but it overwhelmed the whole experience. Excellent service. From the moment we walked in, to when we left. Attentive, responsive, just incredible. (BOTH OSCARS)
Food had some strange takes. Some worked but some were not to our taste but still good. Some highlights were the Ropa, Cuban sandwich and the churros.
Place is a little small but at the time open and nicely appointed.

Really nice eatery, food was excellent service was mostly prompt despite being busy. The margaritas were also incredible, I recommend this place to anyone who loves Latin flavors and nice ambiance.

Great little spot with unique cool items on the menu between the Peruvian beers and the spicy cocktails. I'm sold. Great for dates if you want to impress with somewhere out of the way but in the middle of town. You'll see.
