The perfect location with premium hospitality! We loved our stay at the attic suite, which was designed and curated so beautifully. Enjoy all the charm of old town Orange from right outside your room!

Absolutely charming! The best accommodations and the nicest staff to greet you when you arrive! It feels like staying at your best friend’s beautiful house. There is a welcome mocktail in your mini Smeg refrigerator (you can mix yourself/instructions included), luxurious towels, toiletries, and bedding.. lots of shopping, restaurants, and coffee shops nearby and walking distance to Chapman.

Beautiful hotel. 100% recommended.

Because it’s small, they don’t have many of the services provided in larger hotels, like restaurant, pool, daily cleaning service, etc. Still, they leave a bar full of free snacks to make up for it, plus there are many restaurants 1-2 blocks away. Great location, friendly service. All positive!

Just beware that this hotel is often used as a wedding venue, so probably it’s not the best idea to stay there during one of those events if you’re a light sleeper.

HOTEL: My husband and I stayed at The Richland for one night and it was a lovely and memorable stay. We spent the night we got married after having our wedding ceremony and reception here. Naturally, this place will always be special to us, but objectively speaking, I would definitely stay here again!

The Richland is so quaint and cozy. We loved that it felt very safe, clean, and homey. It really does live up to the name of being a boutique hotel in the best of ways. The self-serve breakfast bar is straightforward and delicious. The amenities are modernized and reliable. It's in a prime location and is truly a sweet little oasis.

WEDDING: We stumbled upon this venue via Instagram (we are not currently local to OC but knew we wanted to get married in the area). We sent an email inquiring about dates and heard back within the same business day. We toured the space via FaceTime initially within that same first week of contact and funny enough, we never actually saw it in the flesh until our final walk though. No regrets! We can say that the space looks and feels exactly as it is presented online - and even better. We had a wedding with ~140 people here and had the best experience working with 24 Carrots Catering, Anna, and Sarah!

Such a comfortable room. Our $550 a night, upgraded King room was a lot for us as Chapman parents, but it was Senior Thesis Film night, and we were celebrating.
The room was air conditioned upon arrival and smelled of oranges. The bed was so comfortable, and I liked the decorative wall paper on the ceiling, it was covered in oranges. The room fee included snacks, water, soft drinks and a nice breakfast in the lounge that was only a few steps away. One change request, a little stronger coffee served at breakfast. This is my favorite boutique hotel, we will be back.

You don't want to stay here! Most people are unaware that this used to be a mortuary. So bizarre to see people having their weddings in the room where we had my father's wake. Makes me wonder if they made bedrooms out of the rooms where they were previously preparing or storing bodies(ugh) or if anyone has had any spiritual/ paranormal experiences.

This is the second December in a row that we’ve celebrated our company service awards at The Richland, and it has been a fantastic experience both times. The ballroom is gorgeous, but the food really stole the show. As someone who looks for gluten-free options, I was so impressed by the menu; the GF dishes were thoughtful and flavorful rather than an afterthought. It’s clear they prioritize the guest experience.
Another huge plus is the convenience—they offer free parking and a charming, cable car-style shuttle that makes getting to the venue easy and fun for our team. If you’re looking for a sophisticated spot in Downtown Orange with high-end catering and great logistics, this is it!

My favorite boutique hotel in CA! Every last detail is just perfect.

We stayed at The Richland while visiting our daughter in August. We live on the East Coast (RI) - Old Towne is charming and was reminiscent of home for us. We absolutely loved the hotel! We rented the Attic Suite which was beautifully decorated. The hotel is well maintained and there are a lot of special touches that elevate your stay. I was so happy that we chose to stay at The Richland and look forward to visiting Old Towne again!

PS….Be sure to get breakfast at the Filling Station!

I stayed there twice. And it’s the best ever. Staff is 100%. No matter what. They treated me so well.

From the moment we walked into The Richland we knew it was the place we wanted to get married. The atmosphere was so homey, yet so professional and put together! The staff (Sarah, Bree, and Anna) were incredible throughout all of planning. On the day of the wedding, it was so comforting to know that everything we needed -- and so many of our loved ones -- were right there on property. Cady (?) who was working Security the night of our wedding was so thoughtful and kind, going above and beyond to make sure we as a couple were taken care of. Really everyone at The Richland puts in that same level of care. The hotel rooms were the perfect, quiet retreat the night before and the night of our event. Thank you Richland!

Best kept secret in Orange. Attention to detail has been paid. Every corner of the property is perfectly appointed. Our room was spacious with a king sized bed! Soft towels! Upscale decor and bathroom features! Delicious smelling soaps and lotions. Location is so convenient. Coffee shops and restaurants walking distance. We did not want to leave. Our new go to place for visits to Chapman and our boys. Just hope the price stays competitive and they dont get too expensive.
