Just got soup to go, absolutely horrible. They must have not had any broth so they they dumped it full of water instead. Honestly as the years go by, the food gets worse and worse and the price goes up every time I go in. Sadly, I won't return to this establishment.

We love Petra! My wife and I have eaten here several times and here's what we have enjoyed: stuffed grape leaves, and every wrap that we have ordered (yes, every one!), including roasted eggplant, chicken gyros, Athenian, chicken souvlaki, and the chicken shawerma. My only complaint is that I have nothing to complain about because complaining usually leads to a funnier review. The service is great and the staff is always friendly. Lucky for my wife and I, one of our daughters, son-in-laws, and granddaughters live in Orinda. Petra is our go to spot when we're doing what we love to do the most: helping one of our children! (If I can't be funny, I'm going to be sentimental) Pick up your next meal at Petra; it deserves community support!

I've only order 3 things here over the years. The lamb souvlaki, the french fries and rarely, I order the gyro. The lamb souvlaki is great because the lamb is almost always grilled medium rare and very flavorful. The lettuce tomatoes & onions are crisp and fresh and with a delicious sauce. The french fries are the best in town and probably the best in the area. It's crisp and steaming hot and very well seasoned and flavorful. Sometimes I'll come by and just order the fries. Although the Gyro is fresh and has great veggies and they give a good portion of meat, it's just an average Gyro. The negatives of this place is that they are not the warmest or friendliest of people. Sometimes they won't even say a word or smile but just take your order. Also, when your order is ready and if you're sitting in the outside tables, they don't call your name or they call in a low voice and they'll just let your food sit there without going outside and telling you. And, they have significantly increased their prices since Covid. I still come here because the food is good but I don't come as much because of the negatives I've mentioned.

This is always a staple when I'm home for the holidays, ordered the roasted eggplant and feta in a pita wrap instead of my traditional order of a lamb gyro and was very happy with my order! It was tasty, fresh, and ready in minutes

I just got grilled salmon salad and the food smells weird. I pushed myself to eat since i was hungry but the smell was undeniable.. Hoping to not get sick.

Although the Gyro was tasty the owner could not have been more unfriendly. After leaving a nice tip I asked for "just a little" tzatziki sauce on the side and they looked at me like I was trying to rob them and proceeded give me less than a teaspoons worth. I will take my business to Kabab Burger MediterraneanGrill in lafayette where there Gyros are better.

I cannot recommend this place. Food is heavily salted and the woman behind the counter needs customer service training. She refused to serve us tap water saying she had no glasses, although two weeks earlier the counter man gave us 2 tap waters in blue plastic glasses that were still above the counter. Prices are high enough to cover the cost of drinking water.

One of my favorite places when I have projects near Orinda is Petras Cafe. "small place, full of flavor". The service is great with a family atmosphere, the food is just perfect mediterranean style, my favorite dish is the lamb souvlaki gyro.
