They are closed as of today.... Not sure if it's permanent closed or not. Sucks drive all the way here to see they are closed. Should have called first.

We stumbled onto this restaurant on our travels through hwy 35 and decided to try it. We reviewed the previous Yelp reviews but relunctantly decided that we would stop for 2 reasons; 1) we saw their happy hour banner and 2) we we hungry. As it turned out, their happy hour items (large hot sake $3 and $1 Oysters) did not disappoint. The Oysters had a seasoning sauce on each..probably green onions and a bit of topiko, so NOT your typical raw Oysters. It was surprisingly delicious. We ordered a dozen. As advertsed...$12!If you are looking for a true sushi experience, I would recommend that a deeper search along the peninsula be warranted. Although their prices are reasonably, they are a local neighborhood establishment, and your expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

Ordered take out. Easy experience and efficient once I arrived. Staff was friendly. The inside was clean and had a great atmosphere. I would return.

What a huge disappointment. The food was inedible. We ordered two bento boxes that contained Beef teriyaki (Tough and overcooked), Shrimp Tempura (Soggy and over battered) and California roll ( Ok). The beef was so tough and not a good choice of beef. The extra charge of two dollars for selecting this item. I love supporting small businesses but this one is not an authentic place to support. Huge let down. Disappointed in presentation and service and quality of food being served.

Service took a while. Sushi roll had more rice than unagi or fish. So hard to try new places.

I came here on a Wednesday afternoon/ evening. You just need to make sure if the gps is taking there to the right location or not . You might miss it and still driving . The restaurant is not a fancy one . It's rather very casual. They have so many different kinds of sushi and other stuff . Happy hour is also real . I ordered California rolls and bento combo box . I loved it . I will go back again to try something else.I tried to have 15 pictures posted here but unfortunately I can't. So I am just sharing some pictures. Customer service is not that great but it's not bad also .

A few things to note about 8 Sushi. Notice the big storefront sign with their specials and happy hour. Yes a literal happy hour from 4:30 to 5:30. Seriously!? Regardless, if that doesn't discourage you from entering, well the sushi is just fine. Not bad, not amazing. Just fine and basic, which works if no frills is what you're in the mood for. And by no frills, I also refer to the entire experience, as the staff when we went in around 7:30 were very tepid and unwelcoming. Also keep in mind that when the sign says they close at 8:30, they mean it. We were trying to finish up the last sips of beers and sake when the lights started to turn off at 8:29. Had to sign the check and get the hell out or be kicked out lol. One positive thing I can share is that sake corkage is only $10. But please be sure to not bring it at 7:30pm!!

Went to have lunch with an old friend as he said it's under new management. It was about an hour before closing time at 3pm so we snagged about 3 rolls. It was an in-between time that we didn't want to eat too much before dinnertime. I ordered a Cherry Roll(salmon and avocado wrapped with tuna on the outside); and my friend ordered a Deep Fried Hamachi Roll and a Rock N' Roll with Eel and Avocado. I would say that the rolls are fair with a nice presentation. I think my Salmon could've had a brighter orange color and expected a complete Tuna wrap around the edges as shown in the menu's photo. The Deep Fried Hamachi Roll was crunchy & not greasy. It was sliced up into thin pieces about 1/4" thick. The Eel Roll was tasty but a lot of rice for me.My friend told me he's been there about 3x since the changeover. He thinks it's better & improved vs. previous years. I think it's just convenient & affordable for him. It just wasn't a standout for me.

Came in on a Thursday for lunch. Was peaceful lovely location. A little rundown strip, but not reflective of the food. I took 1 star off to set the expectation that it's a no frills establishment. But the food... WHOA! Straight to the point the lion king, dragon roll, and 49er. Not overly seasoned in the rice or overly doused in sauce. Perfectly what you would expect. Each bite was a good size. Some places make them with too much rice, or too wide it's hard to have all the flavors in the perfect bite. The rolls, I'd have to say are my top recommendation here. There's no bad option with the sushi. This place has been around for decades at this point is my guess, and it's been consistent and the same since my first visit in my teens. And still a great value, too. Service this particular visit was lovely. The waiter was on the shy side but very attentive and sensitive to our needs when we needed something. For example we dropped my baby's bottle cap, she kindly picked it up from half the room away when she heard it. You know when you just feel like you're being taken care of from a distance? We were in and we were out. Very quick and lovely meal. Every time.

The place was pretty good and the food was great. The staff were very friendly. The king dragon roll was very good , and had a lot of ingredients. The Niagara falls roll is good and the tapioca eggs added the extra kick of flavor. The 8 rollssushi was good and the sauce made it a lot better. The chicken udon was okay and the broth was filled with broccoli.

Chirashi over rice! Delicious and affordable! The best $16 spent in chirashi, with the same quality as places that offer this for twice the amount. High quality, they included lots of fish. I will order from this place again!!
