Islands Restaurant Palm Desert

We went to Islands Palm Desert when the World Series was televised. The manager refused to turn on the sound in the bar area when it was clearly noticeable that everyone in the bar was watching. He said it was a family restaurant. This did not make any sense since children even play baseball.
There were very few people in the restaurant. When visiting other Island’s, they always turn the sound up in the bar area for something as popular as the World Series. Can you imagine how much money this particular Island’s would have made if they turned up the volume? The game had already started, otherwise I would have gone somewhere else to watch with souNeedless to say I will know not to go to Islands during the finals of any sport.

I visited Islands at Palm Desert, CA last night and was very disappointed by how the manager treated me and my service dog. My small, trained service dog assists me with a disability, and under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), she is allowed to stay with me in all public areas of the restaurant.

However, the manager told me to put my dog on the floor and insisted it was a “state law,” which is incorrect. There is no law (federal or state) that requires service dogs to stay on the floor instead of, for example, sitting beside — as long as the dog’s behavior is appropriate and sanitary. The interaction was rude and made me feel unwelcome and embarrassed in front of others, and had to leave the restaurant.

I hope this restaurant will take the time to educate its staff ( especially the managers) on ADA service animal laws and disability etiquette so that other customers with service dogs are treated with respect in the future.

Lot of artifacts, and informative displays. Difficult to take it in at one stop. Cafe within walking distance.

Every time I went, the food was great- affordable, delicious, and filling. The staff is very friendly and happy to help. As far as atmosphere, the place was clean, the themeing was nice, and the other customers were having a good time.

Best burger and fries I have had in a very long time, service was great and friendly. Very reasonable. Especially with how restaurants prices have Bern climbing

The food is always good at Islands. The burgers are the best of any mid-priced burger restaurant bar none. Our Palm Desert location is cozy and has a great vibe. The employees are friendly and professional. The drink selections are amazing.

Had chips and salsa. We added the guacamole, it was terrible, some of it was brown on edges and no taste what so ever. I asked for a couple limes to maybe help it and salt. Server brought out a new bowl and said this is a fresh batch. It tasted a little better but I still had to add lime juice.

Pretty much the same as my previous time there many years ago. Big, good burger and bun (much better than the Red Bird's hamburgers which have shrunk a lot and a lot more expensive). Looking forward to going back very soon.

Feels so much like you are in the islands when there, so cool. Great food tastes and portions size in Palm Desert compared to some other cities. Fun with the waves on the TV and surfing or sports that are on. Frequent pretty often and happy hour is great too.

Just visited tonight & we were not greeted upon arriving, and an employee saw no one seating us & rushed to seat us. He accidentally sat us in a “closed” section. This delayed our orders being taken… and we were a little frustrated. We were moved & re-seated in an Eileen’s section. This waitress was the kindest, most attentive & very quick. What started off as a frustrating experience, became a great one because of her… our family would honestly only visit this location again bc of her. Our food tasted wonderful as well. So thank you Eileen for making our night!!

Jared in the bar is amazing! He can manage every table in the bar area. Take care of the bar top, and manage the server's drinks as well. My go to is to sit at a table in the bar when he is on shift. Go SDSU AZTEC'S! Give this man a RAISE!
