Fabulous dining Lovely Bistro type
Got into town this afternoon and our room wasn't ready at the resort so we went out in search of a bite to eat. Since we own a restaurant ourselves we love to look for local places. We loved the look of the place and the food was fresh and tasty and the chocolate lasagna was the perfect ending. The staff was very professional and friendly and took the time to answer our crazy questions. ☺️ Great start to our vacation. Thank you!

Sweet Basil California Eatery is a gem in the desert with amazing food and service. The staff is friendly and attentive, even to young children. The menu offers excellent choices like the flank steak, Caesar salad, and eggplant cigars. The outdoor ambiance is enjoyable, featuring views of El Paseo and the mountains, while indoor seating is warm and casual. The Basket of Grilled Naan Bread and naanwiches are tasty, and the California Shrimp and Grits is flavorful and stands out. The option to substitute cauliflower rice for potatoes is appreciated for those on a low-carb diet. Some dishes, like the Marinated Grilled Flank Steak, lacked flavor, and the donuts were undercooked, but the manager handled it professionally. The owners, Martin and Sally, provide excellent service and are praised for their creative dishes. The bread pudding and homemade donuts have also received high praise. Overall, Sweet Basil is a recommended spot for a reasonably priced, delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere, offering a unique vibe compared to corporatized restaurants.
