Wonderful place to hike but recently have found a lot of trash along the trails! If there is no budget for clean-up maybe an organized volunteer group could help?

Moderate hike, not dangerous

Good exercise, great views. Even incorporate a bit of boulder-hopping, if you want. Bring plenty of portable water and shade.

Not a difficult trail with great views, remember your water and sunscreen

Peaceful hike with beautiful city views
We got the North Lykken Trail recommendation from the Palm Springs Visitor Center as we were looking for a moderate hike with good views, and it definitely delivered. The trail was peaceful and quiet—we were alone the whole time, which made the experience even more special.

The scenery is beautiful, with a stunning view over Palm Springs once you get a bit higher. We didn’t complete the full trail but hiked for about an hour to a high point and back, which was perfect. A great option if you’re looking for a scenic and not-too-crowded hike near the city.

I found this easily accessible trail quite challenging. Esp keeping on the trail. Wasn’t super well marked.

It was pretty rough, lots of steep inclines and loose rocks. Nice views and nice calmer walk in the middle but I didn’t see any sheep so I was bummed. No waterfalls or water on this trail.

No Dogs!!! They website's that say otherwise are incorrect. No dogs anywhere in the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains, or Joshua Tree state park

This is a great, simple hike with plenty of street parking. It’s about a mile up and back, making it perfect for a quick outdoor escape. There are tables at the top if you want to pack a snack and enjoy the view. Just a heads up—there’s very little, if any, shade, so plan accordingly. Overall, an easy and enjoyable hike!

Parking: Plenty of street parking.

This is not a "hike," depending on how far you go. For us, it was a rock scramble up a fairly steep hillside along private property to a view of Palm Springs. Unable to follow the white dots spray painted on rocks to get to end of "hike"/top of view; noticed another hiker have the same experience and she turned around, too. Photographed some lizards basking in sun.
