Pretty surprised to find this place in Palo Alto, and it is very good. It is normally crowded so better to make reservation ahead of time.

Our friend who lives in the area, took us to this restaurant the first moment we arrived in town for lunch. It's located in the heart of Palo Alto and the decor is very Chinese. We ordered about 6 different Dim Sums to share for 3 people. The food was exquisite. It was as good as any dim sum that we have had in top end restaurants while we visited China. They were perfectly cooked, great flavors and spice sauces, sweet or spicy, were perfect. The service was fast and excellent and made a great welcoming to our visit in the area. The sticky rice was perfect, the green beans with pork were excellent and even the vegetarian dishes were delicious. This is a place you do not want to miss. Unfortunately, Dim Sum is only prepared a lunch time.

Located in Palo Alto, this popular Chinese restaurant serves good dim sum, Cantonese cuisine. There are private rooms for large groups, and dishes are enjoyable.

Tai Pan is our go to spot to Chinese take out although it’s a very nice restaurant with high end decor and service. Kids love the pot stickers and the dim sum is awesome but every dish is always good.

Lovely atmosphere, spacious and quiet interior. Very attentive service and very good food. We had dim sum, five dishes that were all delicious.

Ate here for the first time at the suggestion of a friend. Pretty inside but quite formal looking. We had 3 dishes...appetizer lettuce wraps that were ok but needed some spice or duck sauce like on moo shu pork but was quite bland. Next we had shrimp dumpling soup. Got 2 cups which we thought was one order but turns out it was 2 orders at $12 each! The dumplings were delicious with 4 in each bowl but the broth was quite tasteless, even after we added soy sauce (that we had to ask for). Our 3rd dish was noodles with seafood. Lots of crunchy noodles with 2 shrimp and a few pieces of scallops and calamari. Had several baby boy Choi on it. Again, no flavor. Maybe we just like the spiciness of other Chinese restaurants but the cooking here left us feeling quite blah. Price for these 3 dishes, $61 plus tip.

this is a dim sum place where you mark a sheet rather than having carts pushed around, which i think is what makes it upscale? we were a party of 25 people split into a table of 15 and a table of 10, so many dishes were sampled. our vegetarians and non-shellfish eaters were very happy--lots for them to sample. (the pea shoots with garlic were outstanding.) i recall shrimp dumplings (i am a shellfish eater) and shu mai, and soinach/seafood cumplings, and salt and pepper calamari, and lord knows what else--it's all a blur but at the end we were very full and very happy.

Had the best birthday lunch at Tai Pan, this is authentic Chinese food, no fusion here! The food was delicious; we ordered dim sun - a large selection, and a great bottle of wine. This is a spacious place with pleasant decor and the best thing, one can actually have a conversation without disturbing others. The service was first class, the staff was very friendly and eager to answer our questions. I must return!

The atmosphere is pleasant and quiet enough to have a conversation. It is a spacious place unlike some other Chinese restaurants. The service is generally good; kitchen lags behind once is a while. The staff is polite and friendly. A good variety of appetizers, vegetarian and non-vegetarian as wells as seafood, chicken and beef/pork. It is a l pricier restaurant.

We really enjoyed our dinner and Tsing Tao beers. Good but traditional selection and everything was quite good. Service was a bit spotty. Easy walk to all downtown.

I have only done take-out from TP and it is always so fantastic. Restaurant is very nice and always packed. Must reserve a table.
