I was in the area for meetings when I decided to try out this cafe. I had the salmon benedict - not great taste, muffin seemed stale and tough. When we walked in around 1:30pm, we were not told anything about the cafe closing in 30mins. We also had a call around 2pm. While our food was not even done yet and in the middle of my call, right around 2:05, the cafe manager started creating a ruckus, asking us to leave. Considering we’d given them a 20% tip despite the bad food, it seemed particularly harsh, especially since closing time could have been communicated if it was such a tight window. I’d not recommend this place - it might have been one of my most unpleasant experiences in the Bay Area.

I would not recommend anyone to go to this place. The food wasn’t great and the staff is just downright rude. Skip it!

Came for breakfast on a weekday morning and ordered a $24 omlette. Not bad but Joanie's is really lacking some polish. Tables and chairs are sticky. Plates sound like a chalkboard whenever your fork scrapes them. Too hot in the restaurant with the door wide open. Too hard to get my waiter's attention. Very, very good cappuccino however.

We love our Sunday breakfasts at Joanie's Cafe. A cup of wonderful Guatemalan coffee is brought to us as soon as we sit down. Coffee refills are ongoing throughout our breakfast. Eggs Benedict and the fresh fruit are our food favorite items. The wait staff is exceptional. -Long time employees who add to our enjoyment of our breakfast. Lovely outdoor seating next to festive Sunday Farmers' Market.

The food was on the expensive side. Though the ingredients were fresh, the over all taste was average. The service was fast and good!

The food was amazing and they served a large portion. I got something like 6 slices of French toast. Only reason it is not a 5 star is because of service. Waiter came up to our party of 6 and asked if we had any drinks. Upon taking the second persons order, he started to walk away without asking if that was all. I had to flag him down to order my drink. They did not take our food order for at least another 12 minutes.

Stopped in for breakfast on our way from Reno to San Francisco. Pleasant little place with good food, felt kinda sorry for the waitress, it got quite busy and she was running just to keep up.

Nice quiet place tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The service was pleasant and prompt. The food was delicious and full of flavor with one suggestion. I ordered the smoked salmon crape with eggs, cream cheese, capers, and home fries. While it was delicious, the cool salmon started to cook while wrapped up in the crepe with the eggs. As the salmon cooked it changed the flavor and mouth feel of the crape.

I would recommend keeping the scrambled eggs out of the crape and on the side. This would keep the salmon cool and more the traditional in flavor of smoked lox with cream cheese and capers.

We live in San Leandro and came down to get away from the fireworks. It was our 1st time at this restaurant, had about a 20-25 minute wait. The restaurant is pet-friendly and we had our Pom, so it was understandable to wait for an outside table. The service was great and food even greater. I have no problem taking a 45-50 minute drive to eat at this establishment.
