Mmmmmm, so good. And open for lunch. I had the um, I don't remember but it was kind of like an everything roll. Accompanied by two cold Asahi - fuhgeddaboudit. Service was quick for it being a busy lunch spot. Staff is super nice. Definitely check out next time in Palo Alto. I'm addicted to sushi. Cheers!
My family and I were waiting outside for our turn and they let other people that got after us enter before. At the end they didn’t let us in because they said no stroller, we had a 3 months baby sleeping on it
MJ Sushi in Palo Alto completely exceeded expectations. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated with creative twists that made each bite memorable. You could literally taste the clean, natural ocean in the fish—paired with unique flavor combinations that made the experience stand out.
We started with the Albacore Nigiri, which was simple and elegant, showcasing smooth, clean filet cuts. The Yellowtail Jalapeño was interesting in presentation—it appeared to have skin-on cuts but tasted completely normal and fresh, adding a unique touch.
The rolls were the true stars. The Fiesta Roll delivered a satisfying crunch from the tempura and a perfect blend of ingredients that packed a flavorful punch. The Fireworks Roll was rich, spicy, and well-balanced. But the standout was the Volcano Roll—a baked masterpiece topped with sweet honey walnut for a surprising and delicious finish.
We also ordered two bottles of hot sake, which were solid. The miso soup was savory and comforting, exactly what you’d want to start with. Only downside: the water cups had lemons with visible debris floating around, so we skipped those.
Despite being almost full, the restaurant moved quickly, and service was friendly and professional. You barely had to wait before dishes started arriving. MJ Sushi is absolutely worth a visit—fresh, fast, and full of flavor.
The service is fast, and they have a variety of unique rolls on the menu. It can get a little crowded on busy nights due to the size, but it's a great little sushi place. The free soft serve is definitely a welcome bonus.
We come here twice/wk! Love having a great sushi place in the neighborhood
Tasty, fresh and very well priced. Highly recommend the spicy salmon
Warrior Roll / Dragon Roll are BOMBBB, super tasty. Other rolls unfortunately were less impressive, didn't care for their salmon/tuna/yellowtail roll or hamachi mango roll. Come for these two!
Great sushi, sashimi, and miso soup! Friendly staff, cozy interior, and good anime on tv! Coming back here again and again.
Casual place for some sushi. Open late. Quality is okay for the price.
My Stanford friends said to ask about complimentary beer when dining in there.
delicious lion roll sushi! also has free first round of drinks! would come again price is quite affordable

Palo Alto MJ Sushi is the worst place I’ve ever been in my whole life. I was very disappointed because I was treated horribly by the server, a girl with glasses. I ordered my food with NO onions because I’m allergic, and I was very specific that I didn’t want onions on ANY rolls. The rolls came back full of onions, and the chef refused to remake the order. The server told us to leave if we didn’t like it because they weren’t going to remake the order. This was the most ridiculous experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I will never come back again. If you don’t want to be treated like trash, DON’T COME TO THIS UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE!!!
We ordered gyoza and lion king roll, both were delicious. Service was fast and friendly
Okay sushi and menu with decent price.
I ordered the Deluxe Chirashi for $36.99, which was a bit expensive than the regular chirashi, but I thought it was reasonable since it included otoro and uni.
However, when the dish arrived, I was extremely disappointed. While the sashimi pieces were decently sized, the fish was not fresh at all. It didn’t have a bad smell, but the texture was completely off in every bite.
Unfortunately, I ended up with stomach issues afterward. I eat sashimi regularly (1-2 times a week) from both restaurants and Japanese grocery stores, so I can confidently say that this was not due to food allergies or a sensitive.
For a Japanese restaurant, freshness of ingredients is the most fundamental requirement. but this store was far from it. I won’t be coming back.
My best friend and I ordered to go And it was really great. We just didn't have chopsticks like we had anticipated or fortune cookies but the food was so delicious. I would definitely get it again and I would like to experience the in-house dining at some point.
