Can't believe they're now open in the Valley! Easily the best carnitas I've ever had - definitely come out and support them!

If you're looking for carnitas, this is one of the best places to eat. The famous boyle heights stand now has an addition here in the valley. The carnitas are fresh and savory. The burrito is tasty, but can use some work in the tortilla department. There's even a bar here if you're feeling thirsty.

Great food!!! Love their fare, some of the very best in L.A. period.however… giving out 1 tiny container of pico & one tiny container of red salsa for 1lb of carnitas is just cruel. Ran out of salsa after two tacos. WTh?!! Having great food w no salsa is torture ????‍♂️Please pay attention to your salsa portions on to go orders. Will still come back tho. Your food is ????????????????????????The -1 star is cause of the lack of salsa.

After much research I knew that this taco stand was one I had to try during my short trip to LA. I was fortunate to get a close parking spot but I came around 10:45 to do so. The truck located outside of the location where it is cooked was a very cool experience. Customer service was great as everyone was kind and accommodating. I tried all three pork tacos: maciza, buche, and cuero. The pork shoulder was great and my personal favorite. It was fatty enough to be very juicy and tender without becoming slimy. The belly was even juicier and had a great flavor but became too slimy as I finished the taco. The skin was flavor packed but extremely fatty and slimy. My personal taste preference would be to mix belly and shoulder in a taco for the perfect amount of tender, juicy, flavorful meat. Unfortunately, I did not care for the store bought tortillas that were used but the meat was good enough that it didn't matter. Overall, the food was great and I would go back frequently if I was able to.

I've eaten here about 5 times. Every time I get two mixed tacos. The meat is excellent, fresh and unctuous like good carnitas should be. No complaints except for parking. Many say this is the best carnitas around. I don't think so. I don't know the name of the place but they set up every weekend from about 10:30am to when they run out mid afternoon in Highland Park, on the sidewalk by the Grocery Outlet parking lot. Someone told me it's called Golden Taco, but they have no presence on any internet platforms. I've been wanting to review it. I think their carnitas tacos are spectacular. I've eaten at "Golden Taco"(??) about 12 times. Their carnitas is better seasoned and just as fresh and unctuous as El Momo. And I LOVE their escabeche with red onions, jalapenos and habaneros. They usually put some Mexican oregano in it too. It goes perfectly with those tacos. I add some very bright, fresh salsa verde. These tacos are sublime. I crave them all the time. I can't say the same for El Momo. Try these. You won't regret it.

The carnitas here are out of this world good. They serve 3 types of meats (maciza/pork shoulder), buche (pork stomach), and cuero (skin) and I recommend the mixta, which is a mix of all three. The maciza is probably what you typically know as carnitas, shreds of pork meat though El Momo's is superior, having been stewed in big bronze vats offsite and nearby. The addition of the other meats is a textural delight, adding the slight chew and unctuousness of the buche and the slippery cuero. Note: the sign describes buche as pork belly but it's really stomach. We got a variety of tacos, which at $3 each isn't cheap but the tacos are 2 tortillas wrapped around at least 1 cup of meat each. Baggies with onion and cilantro, and pickled carrot and jalapeno come with, plus some containers of salsa add freshness and vibrancy to the rich stewed meats. They were out of torta bread that day, so we got some mulitas which were great with the cheesy outside and reheated well. Next time, we might do the meat by the pound because its good stuff.

Carnitas that makes you cry. It is unbelievably delicious. Fills the stomach and the soul at the same time. The mixed is my favorite.

Let's just heap on the praise-- if you want rich, pork tacos Carnitas El Momo is it. Personally, I love the mixed meat tacos because the combination of all three meats is exquisite. A single taco can be a meal if you aren't that hungry-- two tacos is more than enough for me as they truly pile on the meat. Lots of street parking as its in a residential neighborhood. Food is well-packaged to go-- just make sure you have enough napkins for when you bite into the deliciousness.

I've heard this was a very good location, so I went today to give it a try and I have to say I was VERY disappointed. First, I couldn't believe 1 taco was $3.50. However, I thought it has to be an amazing taco to cost $3.50, and if it's that good I don't mind paying but unfortunately there was really nothing that I can say I liked. My taco had so much meat in one taco you could make three tacos out of one, but that's not really the bad part, the bad part is the meat was FLAVORLESS. It wasn't bad tasting it just needed some seasoning to give it taste. They gave a little bag of onions that really had no cilantro, to me I like cilantro and it had very little mixed in the onions. and when I say very little, I mean very little. The smallest slices of lemons and just give you a few. and the salsa was also tasteless definitely needed seasoning. So was the food horrible NO, BUT no taste and for $3.50 a taco, it should taste AMAZING. they should do a little better on adding cilantro and cutting the lemons into four pieces since they are the very small lemons, but instead they are cutting a small lemon into 10 pieces.. come on, are you serious. Cilantro and lemon is important to the taco, and let's not forget the salsa, you have to have a good tasting salsa to eat a taco, Please!!! Wouldn't go back and I wouldn't recommend..

The Carnitas were flavorful and plentiful as others have stated but half of it is FAT!!! I've could of made a couple more tacos of just ALL THE FAT !!! Now I understand that's what gives it the flavor but, take the time and pick out some of that fat while your filling the tacos. I myself will NOT be coming back. Plus parking is difficult to find. There were cars just park in the middle of the street!!!

If this was your last day on earth, this is the place to eat the best taco in CA. Pork lovers rejoice, all the fat you can eat and its really cheap.

The food is still a 5 and I'm keeping my rating a 5 cause I like it and them so much. But they gotta do something about their green salsa policy. I bought 2 tacos and I gotta buy a 5 dollar chug of green salsa on the side? At least sale smaller portions for people just buying small orders cause the red salsa is not very good. S*** even greedy a** king taco gives you at least a 1 cup of salsa of your choice per burrito/3 tacos lol
