1886 Bar Restaurant at The Raymond - Pasadena CA

Lovely experience celebrating my dad birthday! The service, ambience and food were exceptional!

We had a poor experience in a supposedly classy restaurant. The food was bland. No seasoning, weird preparations (like crab cakes in a thick dough that was deep fried), and simply tasteless. None in our group finished their food. Also, the waiters seemed to be very nice but lacked the service. Not once did they swing by to refill our drinks. Didn't even ask how the food was. There were only three tables with people, so it wasn't like they were packed. Only positives are nice behavior by the staff and a good ambiance.

The venue was, darling however, the service was very scattered, and we waited quite a long time. Granted it was a busy Sunday brunch timeframe. We had multiple people coming to try to help us and we had to keep asking for water refills and then for the bill because we were sitting there for quite a while. Food was OK and the friend that I went with was super upset that they didn't have more of an expensive menu for brunch. It was quite noisy and hard to speak to one another and hear the servers.  I have been wanting to go here for a while and finally made a reservation and sadly it was not what we had hoped. My friend had been there years ago and said it was much better then.

What I went there for was sadly no longer on the menu. Wish they had turned on heaters outside for more than just one table. Waitress was lovely, but forgot to ask for our drink order beyond water. Overall still a good experience and would go again.

It may seem petty - but for what seemed to be fine dining the table was poorly set and with paper napkins. Our server was pushing the special and when the lady next to me ordered the chicken (which I had planned to order), he tried to talk her out of it saying you could get a dish like that anywhere. When it came my turn, I said “Please don't try to talk me out of the Brick Chicken!” He didn't say a word.

0f 5 in our dinner party, meals ranged from excellent to fair. Chicken was dry and overcooked. Steak was excellent. Ambiance is always wonderful at the Raymond.

We have always loved the Raymond but were surprised at how expensive they have become, especially their cocktail prices.

I hadn't been here in years and it's still as cozy and beautiful as ever! The staff was wonderful and the cocktails, wine and food were all top-notch. I look forward to returning soon!

The Raymond is one of my favorite restaurants in Pasadena and love our experience every time!

Had the best breakfast it's my 80+ ye old mom and all so lovely. They were so nice and my mom loved everything about her visit, especially the potatoes and coffee.

This is a nice quiet romantic spot. The wait staff was super attentive and the food was extraordinary.

Our server made our experience beyond excellent. We sat in one of their gorgeous patios and were treated to exquisite service and excellent homemade treats and delicious brunch choices. Everything was delicious and a great place to catch up with family, no one rushed us. We will be back!

This is my second time dining at The Raymond and unfortunately I found the food mediocre on both occasions.

Celebrated my birthday with a few friends here, for brunch. The food was good but nothing unique. I had the grilled truffle sandwich with mushrooms and it was good but a bit too oily and too caramelized (bit in the overdone). Wish it had a sauce to go with it. My friends had pancakes but they were just ok, though a good big size with fresh blueberries. The pastries were yummy though and the cream that goes with muffin and coffees cake were really good. We sat inside in the den like room which was a bit hot since the windows brought the bright afternoon sun and the music was a bit too loud 🥴 but the service was nice and prompt. The place is very cute and cozy but I feel it needs a little more romantic calm vibes than bad 2000s music.

Excellent restaurant with excellent staff. Helped along the way, made excellent suggestions and excellent food. I would go again.
