Food and service was amazing. Highly recommended for those special occasions and not so. Bakery is legit

Fantastic midwestern modern food. Had the gnocchi and it was rich and nostalgic. Great and attentive staff with knowledgeable information about the menu. Love the different options of seating, and the outdoor area is incredibly charming. Will be back again!

This restaurant and shop is a great addition to Pasadena. If you are a cheese fan, the selection and variety here is great. The ambiance, service and decoration are all on point. The shop has a wonderful variety of smoked fish and seafood as well as a cheese case with some unusual choices. The cocktail list has some interesting options and the menu is one where you want to order everything. My favorite items was the cornbread eclair topped with chicken liver mousse and morelo cherries. It looks like a sweet treat but is so wonderfully savory. I also really enjoyed the curried cauliflower and Lamburger Helper pasta dish. The pineapple cobbler dessert was way too sweet for me, but the skillet presentation and delicious cherry ice cream topping really stood out. I would definitely return here to try other dishes.

We are from Palm Springs and San Diego. Two women out for a Pasadena lovely time for sightseeing, shopping, dining and kindling our friendship (73 and 56! Yrs old) for two nights. We can write reams on the pleasant time we had and the magnificent food we ate! Agnes had beautiful food.... at too outrageous a cost? I am not giving this restaurant a good review. Why? Imagine paying 90$ for a breakfast? One coffee each. Had to send latte back because it cold! My friend had a normal coffee...cause she wanted refills...but never offered! (So now you know why?). My omelette...cheese pimento was delicious. The only thing is omelette had a large handful spring mix lettuce on top. (Very nice salad dressing though!) Toast had to be purchased as a side! (Really?) My friend had an absolutely wonderful mushroom frittata...Although, she was lucky to get a few fried potatoes slices (unlike me!) ! Piled high with spring mix also! We laughed and said..."Well that will go down in our history books as our 90$ breakfast?" ( "What the heck", we were saying to ourselves, and by the way they did not accept cash! Really! Only cards!? Really!) We paid and while waiting for my friend to use the washroom I saw a large jar of chocolates "open-top" standing next to the cash register. There was no price on this jar at all. At least they offer fancy candy for customers paying I thought. I helped myself and then had another and handed it to my friend and we moved out the door still laughing about the bill???? We got 25 steps away to call an uber....and a "greeter" came running out after us declaring that we had not paid for our candy!!!! Seriously. We felt so badly to have done this....But just think about this....We just paid 90$ for breakfast...I bought another pack of treats in there for 10$ to have on our walking excursions during the day ahead....and I humbly went back in the store to pull out my credit card to pay for $2.48 3 small chocolate kisses! You can all suit yourselves on this one. Good gracious customer respect I believe is lacking here....And how much is that worth? I believe everything! That is the basics of a good restaurant. So if they don't have the basics correct? We won't go back and we make it a point to tell the story!

I mean, look, I don't want to go all boomer here BUT if we're going to pay $88 (eighty-eight united states dollars) to split ONE entree, one pastry, a glass of wine and a beer... that food had better be incredible. And it wasn't. You just can't justify those prices when the food is whatever. People on Yelp seem really into the Eggs Benedict and it wasn't bad by any means but basically just normal Eggs Benedict smothered in sauce. Not really any better than what you'd get anywhere else. Nice service, cute place, but c'mon even by 2024 standards those prices are nuts for what you're getting.

So disappointing. I've been here several times and the quality has changed considerably. The first time I had their Tomahawk pork chop it was a thing of beauty, served quite rare (what they termed medium) in a delicious jus. Last night the cut was so thin there was no way for it to be rare, it was overcooked and as my dining companion said: it looked like supermarket meat. (for $58). The cheese on our cheese board was meh, we didn't eat it (and they have some amazing cheeses in their counter — you can't make requests, but you can order what you know individually). Lastly and quite annoying: the music was so loud and awful it made what is a lovely setting feel chaotic and unwelcoming. We felt like they wanted us to leave as soon as possible. Just my opinion, the restaurant wasn't suffering for diners.

My gf and I just spontaneously decided to give Agnes a go. And phew, are we glad we did so. From the outside it already looks like a hipster/quaint brunch type of restaurant. When you're inside it looks like a bar/market/bakery, but the dining and tables are all in the back where brick walls and old timey pictures set up the ambiance. Reservations are recommended but we got seated for two immediately. When it comes to brunch, we tend to split sweet and savory. Here's the kicker though: one of our dishes was sweet AND savory and the other one sweet AND tangy. So bonus points already. The sticky toffee pancakes came out first and yeah, it was nice, warm, and sticky. The pancakes are pancakes, but the toffee sauce and cream on top is what elevated the pancakes. It was just the right amount of sweetness with some tartness mixed into it. You could enjoy this without feeling guilty or sick after. The eggs benny (pork belly with cheddar biscuits) was the winner though. The pork belly was nice and juicy. The hollandaise sauce was rich, sweet, and creamy, it was unlike any I've ever had... you, you just need to try it yourself. The cheddar biscuit was amazing at not getting soggy and holding everything together while adding another layer of savory you didn't know you needed for an eggs benedict. Anyway, it was the best eggs benedict variant I've ever had. And after all of that, it doesn't burn a *huge* hole in your wallet but still is on the pricier side for brunch. Anyway, this place is pretty amazing and deserves a whole lot of attention.

My boyfriend and I came here on a whim during our spontaneous old town Pasadena date. Rain was just pouring down here in socal today in mid April, and I was getting slightly lightheaded, so we had to go find a place to sit down and eat quickly. Food: wow we started off with the toffee pancake, and it was so deliciously sweet with a little bit of tangy twist. And the bacon egg benedict blew me out of my seat, the egg was perfectly poached without the yolk being too runny, sauce was so very creamy and savory, bacon was super tender and sweet and salty, and the biscuit on the bottom soaked up all the flavors very nicely! We were thinking of light snack/food, but this ended up being pretty hefty heavy meal haha Price: oof a bit pricey, but well worth the dollars given that the food taste and quality are top notch. It came out to $60 for 2 dishes including tax and tip Ambiance: very hipster modern vibes, spacious with lots of seating inside, great for brunch when you're feeling basic teehee Service: great, everyone was friendly and attentive, they got us what we needed in a prompt manner, no issues here Parking: we parked in the public parking lot within old town Pasadena, it was only $1 for the first 2 hours, and lots of available spots on a rainy Sunday afternoon

It was truly a great experience at Agnes yesterday. From the moment I stepped in, the warm ambience made me feel right at home. The food was beyond delicious, with every dish a delightful journey of flavor. The drinks were equally exceptional, expertly crafted and wonderfully complementing the meal. The attention to detail, the genuine warmth and food/drink knowledge of your staff made our brunch truly special. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place for culinary enthusiasts like myself. I plan to bring my small family in next time!

Delicious! Small portions of the appetizers but they were delicious. My favorite was the beet salad with mandarins... absolutely refreshing and delicious! I enjoyed the pasta and cheese & meat plate as well. My least favorite was the stuffed potato pasta... lacked flavor The prices are reasonable for the area The service is friendly prompt and attentive. Overall this is a good place to come with friends and enjoy multiple plates family style.

Ordered the omelette too creamy tasted like cream cheese straight- My friend ordered the Benny or something that sounds like that she didn't care for it Service was not good- felt like the staff seems not happy - I asked the people sitting next to us what they thought about the place and yeah they said that was their first time but weren't going back because they didn't like the food the server seemed nice to them- the tater tot's were good and so that tasted good so if you go try that the guave margarita didn't taste like a margarita at all - sorry Ambiance was nice place is very cute - clean and I did buy some jam from the shopping area - $37 for two tiny jams - haven't tried them yet. My friend and are Latinas not that it matters but we weren't sure if the service had anything to do w that. We totally felt like we weren't welcomed here. We were going to go to the Langham but I wanted to try this place. Sorry to owner for this review but it's my honest truth. Place is super cute though.

Wine Wednesday's and a cheese board... I don't think I need to say anything more. If you're looking for a charming restaurant to take that special someone in your life on a cute date look no further. Agnes is absolutely gorgeous and the food does not disappoint. The staff is always so sweet. Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and they gave him a card signed by everyone.

The atmosphere was impeccable and I loved the decor, the tables (they were the perfect shade of green), and even the giant doors. The food, however, was subpar. For the price and the hype, both the appetizer (it was a small cheese board that was a special at the time I visited) and the entrée (the Lamburger Helper) were major disappointments. The pear sorbet (seasonal) was beautifully plated but mediocre in taste. I want to like this place so I'll be back to give it another try. Maybe it's more appropriate for drinks.

I love Agnes! I have been here many, many times and will be back! Leave your cheap "let's itemize the check", "I only ordered the salad", friends at home. This is the kind of place you want to come with people who appreciate good food and want to share. I highly recommend over-ordering so you can try as much of the menu as possible! Definitely kick things off with their half and half cheese / charcuterie board! They do a beautiful job with these pairings. I also recommend adding the marinated olives! (So freaking good). Their chicken dishes are always amazing. And y'all, let me tell you, the steak and pork chop!!!!! Yes please - so marbled, so rich, so good! You gotta try the loaded potato dumplings. Their cornbread eclair is to die for. And trust me when I say it is worth ordering the entire dessert menu. Don't worry about being indulgent, just do it! I know the menu changes but if they have the scallops, absolutely get them! And I usually let the server help me select a salad based on what I am ordering. The one critique I will give is that I have had more than one server here try and tell me I am ordering "a lot" lol, hush! But really, the staff has always been great here. Last, I highly recommend splurging on snacks on the way out! I have never regretted having a little stash of their chocolate bars at home!
