I loved the cheesy tucks they served amazing and delicious tucks
I wanted to try Matu based on a LA Times review - so on my next visit to Pasadena this past June, my daughter and I tried it - and yes, we LOVED it! It did take forever to get our order and they had run out of chips …. BUT, WOW! Everything about this sandwich was yummy - the bread, the beef, the cheese, the pepper! I always shop at Target when I’m in Pasadena, and walk by Matu. It’s only super busy at lunch and dinner time. So worth it! Did I say I’m originally from Philly?...read full review
Consistently delicious, the best cheesesteak in America.

Cheesesteaks by Matū offers a simple but fantastic sandwich, with piping hot beef on sesame bread and a mild chili pepper that adds spice with every bite. The bread is nice and has a good texture, and the cheesesteak with the pepper tastes excellent. The meat quality is noticeable, and the flavors are great. The chili they add for spice is unique to their sandwich. The $24 cheesesteaks are still great, though the chips are salty and not recommended. The meal can cost around $40, and some find the sandwich a bit dry and not worth the price, while others say it is worth it since they use high quality meat. The restaurant is only super busy at lunch and dinner time, and there is validated parking around the corner. Ordering on Postmates is pretty convenient, with the same prices as the store, and the pick up process is easy. The customer service has been described as just ok, with staff who did not seem happy to be there, and recent experiences have been horrendous and unprofessional. For a $24/sandwich establishment, you'd expect customer-centric service, but sadly not here.
