Based on the questions, I think this review is supposed to be about the Red Door Cafe, which is on the ground level of Hameetman. It seems to be a handy, comfortable dining option for Caltech students to meet. I've never eaten there because the ever-present burned pizza smell is pretty off-putting. I did buy a bottle of water once and found the price to be high for a student dining option. I would recommend the outdoor tables as a quiet place to relax in the shade.
It's the resting place of the 400 year old oak. This is the student center of Caltech, but not only used by undergrads. Spacious interior, a Cafe, and a gift store that sells not so good-taste (mostly orange colored) T-shirts and sweaters. The folks sitting around inside and outside are always a bit nerd-ish, but they are the ones who make this place even relevant, which include undergrads, PhD students, postdocs, professors, and visiting scholars.
