Best sushi place I have eaten at with lots of thai & japanese dishes. I have tried other sushi places in the area but the quality of sushi at Oba is incomparable. I have been taste testing sushi places all over LA & SGV but I find myself back here every single time. No other sushi restaurant suits my palate like Oba.
The staff themselves are incredibly welcoming. 100/10!!
i recommend placing a reservation over the phone (super easy process) to avoid a waiting as this place is very popular for its quality dishes :D

One of if not THE best sushi places I’ve ever been. Delicious food, amazing and welcoming staff, and a super nice atmosphere overall! It’s my go-to sushi recommendation.

We’ve been meaning to try this place - Japanese Thai fusion - our two fave cuisines. But we seem to have stayed on the Japanese side of things. Overall decent. Carpaccio / Karaage / Eggplant Nasu Miso was good. Gindara was OK. Cut like sashimi so it was a bit thin and therefore over seasoned.
Friendly staff tho it doesn’t get busy and hectic during rush hour. So things tend to take time.
We’ll give it another go next time with the Thai. Til then…

the salmon sashimi was not very good, odd texture (chewy, not fall apart like traditional sashimi) and flavor. Duck bao was also rather one dimensional and dry. Such great service and the noodle dishes at this joint are the star! We also got the Street Noodle and Kee-Mowl and was tasty

I feel like this place would be a lot more popular if it was in a better location. A really nice restaurant offering a large selection of Japanese and Thai food. I only tried the sushi omakase and it was quite good. Good quality and presentation, with all sorts of different fish. Reasonably priced too, great spot for families and groups.

Great spot for a casual meal or for a date. Really fresh food, perfectly seasoned. Our orders all day a great mix of savory, spicy, sweet, and salty. Servers were kind and attentive. So much to choose from! Would highly recommend.
Dietary restrictions: Some gluten free items including the noodle dishes. They are clearly marked on the menu.

Oba has been our go to sushi spot for almost 5 years and it feels criminal that I’ve never written a review. This place is a hidden gem. The fish is always very fresh and the value is excellent. The staff is wonderful. Lily is one of the loveliest people around - I always look forward to chatting with her when picking up takeout or dining in. Give this place your business - you won’t regret it.

The wait time was quite long, around 50 minutes, despite the restaurant being relatively empty. Additionally, I found the quality of the food and sushi to be below expectations. I found GAS Station Sushi much better than the sushi offered in this restaurant.

The service was amazing, the waiters and the hostess are great and give courteous service. I ordered a simple salmon and avocado sushi. Instead, I got salmon, avocado and cucumber, the rolls were sloppy and falling apart, the amount of fish was less than it should be and the worst part was the rice was muddy, too soft, there was no rice vinegar, simply the least tasty sushi I've eaten, if you can call it sushi at all. And in addition, each roll cost 12 dollars which is excessive even for a good roll. Just a big disappointment.
