The happy hour menu was just enough food and perfect amount right before attending a local performance. The apricot bread pudding was amazing!!

I usually enjoy everything I order here, and the service is good. The reason they don’t get more stars from me is that they are not allergy friendly. They fry nuts in the same fryer as the French fries, and aren’t clear enough about that on the menu.

I really enjoyed my experience! The wild mushroom omelette and tomato soup were delicious, the salad dressing was perfectly balanced, and the café mocha hit the spot. The apricot soufflé was an absolute highlight, and last but definitely not least, the service was fantastic.

I really did not like this place. I didn’t feel welcomed the food was not that great. I wasn’t too happy. I would always ask for water. They didn’t come to the table to see if you want it more.

Had lunch with friends on a Sunday. Great tasting food. Portion size was very good. No wait for a table. Waitress was friendly and knew the menu. Great service!

I had lunch today at Plate 38 with a fundraising director from USC . I had the roasted tomato soup with the add-on of a ham panini. They forgot my crostini with the soup, but the soup was absolutely delicious. The ham panini was outstanding, with buttered sourdough bread and the ham with melted cheese. Service was slow but acceptable. There is nothing outstanding about the ambience, but it is pleasant enough. I can’t wait to go back for the roasted tomato soup and the ham panini. Incredibly delicious!

Stopped in for the social hour, and was asked if we had a reservation. No, but they were able to provide us a table in the enclosed patio.
The server suggested the grilled fish taco with Chipotle aioli, avocado, and Cole slaw.
I was happy to note they carried a New Zealand Savignon Blanc (The Crossings) so enjoyed a glass. Although he stated the taco was small, it was too large to bite into, and because there were two taco shells I was able to divide it into two, which made it a meal. Prices were reasonable, however service was slow, and it appeared their first priority was to the locals...so didn't linger for dessert, as no refills on drinks...

This place fills a nice niche that is needed in Pasadena. Quaint, classy and exceptional food for such a relaxed atmosphere- this is a nice little secret that is underestimated. Compliments to the chef - a true gem.

I wanted to share that I have enjoyed coming here for years. Now it my experience has been taken to another level!
I now am a proud fur baby mama and to find out that Plate 38 is dog friendly, was just the cherry on top!
That sent me over the moon! Pasadena is great but sometimes like today I was in a rush took my dog to the vet and had to find a place that could accommodate my plus one. At 5:00 there was no way to go home and make it to dinner to the agreed upon time. However I arrived asked if ok to sit outside and waited for them to say no we do not allow, instead they smiled and welcomed us and we did sit on the outer area but they greeted us warmly, offered Ginger water. It really was an extremely pleasant experience. The hostess, waiter, they could not be any nicer really, the food happy hour offerings were delicious, the cocktails were not only pleasing to look at but they were as good as they looked! The food came out fast and hot. Can’t wait to go back!
