A hidden gem in the heart of Pasadena. The Rose Tree Cottage is like stepping back in time to a “gentil” way of living Britain circa mid 1900s and before. The high tea with delicious food and impeccable service from Edmund & his wife Mary who have run this establishment for decades. Absolutely such a joy to visit the fine folks at Rose Tree Cottage. Walking in feels like stepping back in time and the service, treats, and atmosphere were impeccable. Will absolutely be joining them again! They also have an amazing selection of gifts in the store that are all authentic and there's something for everyone.

The Rose Tree Cottage is a charming tea room offering a traditional English tea experience. The owners provide excellent service and ensure everything is perfect for your high tea. Strongly recommended for an afternoon of tea, this lovely, intimate spot encourages guests to dress up and enjoy delicious tea and the best scones. While the prix fixe price may seem high, the quality of the food and the unique experience make it worth a visit, especially for a special occasion. The indoor space is small but covered in British memorabilia, creating a cozy and authentic atmosphere. Guests can also try the tea/bites boxes, which come with an assortment of delights. The menu features a selection of sweet and savory items, all freshly prepared on-site using a traditional AGA stove, including smoked trout and avocado toast with a twist, fennel-apple salad, and pear-ginger tea. It is noted that all produce comes from local farms. Guests are expected to adhere to a dress code, with ladies wearing dresses or skirts and gentlemen in suits. Reservations are required and can only be made one week in advance. The owners have been doing this for 50 years and put a lot of thought into each detail. The Rose Tree Cottage is not just a place for delightful tea time but also supports a worthy cause, as the owners run an orphanage in Kenya.
