The brownie chocolate ice cream was good but there's a major problem here. You can't be having people with moist looking damp hands touching all over the cones with no gloves sometimes hands wet leaving moist fingerprints on the cone... Some places even have talking guards which I highly recommend since you're talking over all the ice cream. But at a bare minimum You have to be wearing gloves, especially when you're also the person taking the payment.

I had the most pleasant experience with Camille! This was my first time coming to this shop at the recommendation of my friend.
We got helped by Camille; she was super friendly!!! She gave owner recommendations and popular combinations.
I ended up going with the Goat Cheese marionberry Habanero along with Huckleberry Cornbread pudding. The goat cheese flavor is really good because it has a slight twinge of spice and is slightly salty. I thought it would be good to balance it out with the Huckleberry flavor but that turned out being too sweet for me eventually.
A sample that I liked, that I would get next time is the olive oil flavor. Despite the name, it just tastes light, smooth, and kind of vanilla-y. It fits anyone who doesn't like strong flavors, it doesn't even taste strongly like vanilla but it's the best thing I could compare it to.
A scoop is about 7$ but it's massive. I thought it would be small and got two scoops, but I was fully bloated by the end of eating everything.

Rushed ordering I had barely stepped up to the counter when the employee asked, “What can I get for you?” and stared at me the entire time, making me feel rushed while I tried to read the menu. 2. Zero help on flavors I asked if they had pistachio. His only reply was a curt “We don’t have pistachio.” When I moved on to chocolate, he said, “We have lots—tons of chocolate,” but gave no guidance or recommendations. He half-turned away, laughing and chatting with his coworkers instead of helping me. I had to request a sample myself; it was just okay, and he didn’t offer any alternatives. 3. Indifferent attitude Throughout the interaction, the employees seemed more interested in their own conversation than in serving customers. Their lack of attention and basic courtesy made the whole experience uncomfortable.
I left feeling like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer and won’t be returning.

Small space inside, limited seating. Street benches nearby work fine.
Service was fast, place was clean, and the flavors are unlike anything at regular ice cream shops.

So I love love love Salt & Straw, but my favorite time of year is March so I can get all my yummy cereal flavors, and this year they brought back Snap & Crackle Marshmallow Treats which is my FAVORITE! But unfortunately when I went to pick up some pints, they were already sold out and it wasn’t even the end of the month yet. Literally devastating (yes, I am dramatic when it comes to my ice cream). Luckily though, my ice cream baristas saved the day! One filled up a few double scoop cups for me, and the other one, Camille (Angel from Ice Cream Heaven) called the Americana location to see how many pints they had left in case I wanted to make another stop. Truly gold star service. 11/10! Thank you 🙏🏻

Salt and Straw has been my favorite ice cream place, regardless of the location. I’ve been working in Pasadena more so I stop by for ice cream every chance I get. However, I don’t think I’ll be going to this particular location any more. The servers/cashiers aren’t the friendliest. I’ve been there a few times and every time I visit, they look annoyed to be there or pick who they want to be kind to. At first I thought maybe they were having a bad day, so I tipped them extra as they watched, hoping that’ll change their mood. Even then, the annoyed looks continued. It’s definitely uncomfortable. Safe to say I will no longer go to this location.
