I don't go out for gelato often but since I was in the area and it's an extremely hot day I figured I'd check it out. Usually I'm a basic flavor (vanilla) kind of dude but after chatting with the guy behind the counter, he recommended I try the Affogato which is vanilla gelato and a espresso shot. I'm glad I did, the texture and flavor was excellent, exactly what I needed. They also have a pretty cool space with a window called a gelato lab where they make the gelato in house. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely drop by.

My first time here and it was the best experience ever! The owner went above and beyond! He knew the flavors and suggested the popular ones! He even added a umbrella on top of my gelato I went with the coffee gelato which is made with real coffee beans! A must try for coffee lovers! Thank you Swedish Scoops! Will def be back!

This place is great! I stopped by here about a year ago and the selection was amazing! The owner insisted we try about 10 different flavors - which were all amazing. The owner went above and beyond to give us top notch service. Highly recommend this place is you want gelato or a cool treat!

Finally found a Gelato place close by! I have been on the hunt for a delicious Gelato place near me that is that is rich in flavor and happy to say this place hits the spot. They have a lot of flavors to choose from and you get to taste them before deciding. The mango and strawberry were both creamy and good! The extra dark chocolate (I think that was the name) and Stracciatela were both delicious too! Ordered a pint to go and chose the strawberry and the extra dark flavor. Their servings are generously scooped and served! Tip: call to confirm hours.

This place was amazing! The staff gave the best customer service and we tried so many of their flavors. Made us feel like we were in Italy having gelato. Make sure to stop here when you're in Downtown Pasadena! I recommend the Stracciatella :)

[Review #528] 2020 Yelp 100 Challenge (32/100) I flagged Swedish Scoops a couple of years ago when OTM Club curated a cone for its members but I didn't get a chance to go. After meeting my brother for lunch (March 2019), there was still time on the meter to wander around in Old Town Pasadena. The kiddos complained of being tired & hot... these LOs have no stamina but it was quite warm so I steered them towards Swedish Scoops. All of a sudden there's lots of energy & chatter. O-o Swedish Scoops reminds me of the ice cream shops in Sweden. The selection feels a tad on the small side with many flavors consisting of fruits & nuts; we miss some of the Swedish flavors like Vanilla with bits Daim bar, Anise & Cardamom, Pepparkakor, Licorice (bleh... but my husband loves it). After sampling a dozen flavors, the kids settled on 2 cups of VANILLA + STRAWBERRY, ROCKY ROAD + PINEAPPLE. My son is more straightforward, leaning towards classic flavors, though he usually likes chocolate (not sure why he didn't get that). It's creamy but not rich in flavor... you don't see vanilla bean or bits of real strawberry. My daughter's choice was similar in taste & texture... except rocky road has nuts & marshmallow pieces; the pineapple also lacked that sweet/sour/citrus taste. Oddly enough, the trays are decorated accordingly with fruit & nut as a topping... maybe if the actual fruit was added, it would give the gelato some oomph. I have different memories of the gelato we enjoyed in Sweden, but these cups were for the kiddos & they enjoyed it. The shop's space is narrow & L-shapes fitted with a couple of tables & chairs, & some benches. Price tag is on par with local shops, but higher than Sweden's shops. With the Swedish name, I was hoping for flavors that are unique to Sweden: vanilla with bits Daim bar, anise & cardamom, pepparkakor, licorice, etc. I'm not sure if there's a cap to how much you can sample, but they were quite nice to the kids each trying a taste of the same flavor instead of sharing the spoon. =) In addition to gelato, Swedish Scoops also serves kanelbullar (Swedish cinnamon roll), sandwiches, salads, & wraps. While the Swedish Scoops gelato was enjoyable, there are local shops with the similar flavor profiles so it's not worth the 25+ mi. trek unless I'm in the area. Hopefully when things turn around & social distancing is no longer a thing, it'll be perfect weather to enjoy a cone. =D Recommended: Vanilla, Strawberry, Pineapple, Rocky Road.

The place is so good and the people who work here are reasonable. Ive had their gelato and chai tea before. A friend and I wanted some of the coconut sorbet and some other flavor, but they don't accept mobile pay and we did not have enough cash for two cones, so the worker made us $6 worth of the 2 flavors. She could've turned us away and said sorry...but she did not and for that reason my friend and I will be repeat customers! Thank you guys!
