Not my idea of beef for a Smash Burger. They blend three different types of beef in the patty: chuck, rib and brisket. It was okay. Fries were very good and excellent bathroom facilities. Sodas were overpriced at $5 for a 12oz can. Even Joe Biden thinks that's inflationary. The big turn off was when the staff (owner?) moved my plastic drink cup by grabbing it by the brim where I would put my mouth. That's hugely unsanitary. Always grab someone else's cup by the bottom away from where a person puts their mouth especially during a pandemic.

My wife and I were passing through Paso Robles and were exploring the town when it was time for lunch. Looking through Yelp we saw several possible places, but The Backyard tickled our fancy, so we decided to give it a try. At first it looked closed, as when we approached from the street, there was a small stand-like structure with a serving window, but it was closed. Fortunately, we explored a bit and behind this structure was a large outdoor seating area consisting of picnic tables (many of them in shade), and another small structure where one places their order. There was also a covered outdoor seating area with outdoor couches and chairs. I had the "Backyard Burger" ($16) which was very good. My wife had the "Philly Cease Steak" ($16) which as better; very yummy! (she got the better item!). You place your order and pay at the counter window. Then eventually someone brings your order to you.

Way overpriced Costco burger and the "steak and cheese" sandwich was so burnt it was inedible. $16 for a Costco burger patty and then they charge you $2 extra for a side of fries.

What a cute find. Only outdoor seating with fire pits and heat lamps. It is very family friendly and dog friendly. It's very casual, walk up to order. The food was good. The fries were awesome. Like a wedge fry but really thin and crispy like a chip.

Definitely miss the old vibe here. Food isn’t as good as it used to be but it’s still a chill place to hang out. Maybe having some dessert or after food choices besides just beer would be nice too.

It was going so well. The food is great. The beer is good. Good atmosphere. Until I went to go use the restroom… the sink is outside the restroom. The sink has 4 faucets. When I went to go use the faucet, I saw the cook/person who gave us our meal came out of the restroom, he didn’t wash his hands!!! So unsanitary. I felt disgusted because I just ate a meal he just made for my husband and I?????? so thanks to him, we won’t be going back. (Please wash your hands at all times. Even if you “didn’t go”)it’s disgusting..
