The new menu is a huge disappointment. We dine here usually once a month, but will be going elsewhere from now on. A real shame, but so it goes I suppose.
They DO NOT have clam chowder on the menu anymore.
Came here reading a review that there is clam chowder, and possibly the best in the area.
They are under new management and the clam chowder is nowhere to be found. Sad.
Giving this rating in the hopes that the new owners bring it back.
Otherwise this place is gorgeous and they staff are warm and kind.
I got tea and walked around with it.
If they bring back the soup they were once known for I’ll change this review.
Before this weekend I would have rated a 4, but this weekend was bad at a 2, so I'm settling for a 3 overall. This was the first time we didn't enjoy our experience. We were seated by the side door next to the stairs. While we were waiting for our food a very busy server told us in passing we need to move our table so he can easily carry the food upstairs. So thinking that staff would move our table we waited, then we had to move our own table. We lifted the table and moved it over along with our chairs. My salad was so drenched in dressing I couldn't eat it. I ordered steak frites with a peppercorn demi. The sauce looked like melted American cheese, was thick and didn't have any peppercorns (not sure what the sauce was). My husband ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and he said it had zero flavor. The bread was good but they pureed artichoke in the butter which made the texture and taste weird. My son at least liked his kids pizza and the fries were good. They were busy but we waited some time for plates to be cleared and were shown a small electronic tablet to sign for our bill. We had to ask if they had a dessert menu. Then we were asked to sign the small tablet where we couldn't review the bill for accuracy. I was really thrown off mostly by having to move our own table. We stay at Costanoa a few times a year and really hope this is not the new norm.
Been going to Cascade for years. It’s under new management and has a new menu. I
had the BEST meal I’ve ever had! I am vegan and they now offer vegan options.
I no longer have to finagle something to eat. And it was GOOD, and filling! Roasted Cauliflower with Lentils with Garlic Tahini Dressing.) My husband had a kale salad with a peanut sauce dressing. He added grilled chicken.
Jim, the bartender, is second to none. A kind, thoughtful and outgoing guy who pays attention to the details. Frankie went out of his way to make an excellent cappuccino while Jim was busy. Luis is the chef that has created a menu which is leveled-up and delicious and Cascade’s pastry chef is excellent! Laurel, the food and beverage manager, is keeping the place running smoothly after the recent ownership transition and continuing to help
make it a draw.
Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!
Food we got was just ok , had high hopes but failed to meet the bar .
The quality of food was fair. The pizza was soft and soggy. The artichokes were just ok. The salad and dressing was good. I wouldn't go back
Impeccable service when I had dinner. Good food. Love the fireplaces!
Took us 30 minutes after being seated for a waiter to come take our drink and food order. We weren't in a rush but had to call one over. It seems like they forgot we got seated.
We had a beautiful Mother and Daughter lunch. The Cascade is very accommodating and the service was excellent. We also spent time outside on a picnic bench and enjoyed our view of the ocean. Lovely grounds too. A really wonderful time spent there.
Mother's Day lunch (no brunch menu?) and the place was as full as I've seen it, but still with some open tables. We were seated promptly, and just as promptly forgotten. Only after about 15 minutes did we flag down an employee who said she'd "figure out who our server was." Waited a few more minutes, finally ordered, and waited overlong for our meal to arrive. Food arrived, and the waiter apologized that the "menu is only 4 days old" and the kitchen hasn't figured it out yet. That's doubtful, as my grilled veggie sandwich arrived cold and must have been sitting idle. Overall B-team wait staff, which upon further reflection is typical for the half a dozen or more times we've eaten there. Epilogue: As we have done several times before, before driving back home (we live 30 miles away) we toured the wonderful campsites in the hopes that one day we'll stay there. Until we were chased down and asked to leave by two security guys on a golf cart. When we said we were only looking around and won't be staying, they refused to interact with us and closed-followed our car until we left the area. I suppose they're just trying to keep the riffraff away. Now having been made aware that we are the riffraff they're trying to keep away, we won't be darkening their doorstep again.

Sadly, we were quite disappointed in our dining at Cascade. We were a party of 6, the waiter took our names with our menu selection, 4 meals came out in an expected time frame, a good 5 or so minutes later and the 5th meal came out...... we waited thinking the last was on its way since it was the same as meal 5. After another 5 minutes pass we inquire and the waiter disappears and then approaches our table and says that he never put the order in but he can now if we'd like or he can make it ‘to go'. Seemed rather non chalant, no apology. It was a birthday celebration so we didn't want to fuss but I was boiling inside that he was so dismissive. Didn't adjust our tab or anything. The meal arrived and the rest of us were finished. So disappointing. The next morning, we were seated for breakfast, same waiter. We order our food and it was brought to us in a paper bag to go. We were clearly seated and expecting to dine in and were never asked if we wanted our food to go. Very odd, asked for plates, flatware and ate at our table. No complaints on the actual food.
Our waiter was pleasantly attentive. The dinner was served in a timely manner. I appreciated being able to switch from the mashed potatoes to a green salad. The salmon was good. The table settings were above average.
Wasn't best customer service. Waited over 30 minutes for cocktails. Saw them sitting at the bar waiting to be picked up. Waiter, Marco barely checked on us.
Charming find on the wilds of the coast! I enjoyed hiking past the garden and goat barn and then seeing all the yummy creations made directly on site. The views are lovely and the atmosphere is cozy. Note that OpenTable spots were more limited than what was available walking in, especially for a large party.
We were shocked to see not one single organic item offered on the menu. Especially since there are so many amazing farms nearby, the restaurant could have easily paired with a local farm and done some beautiful farm to table offerings. The noise level was so high we opted for sitting outside on a cold, windy March evening with non working heaters just to have some peace and enjoy the epic views. The server honestly probably just forgot about us which is understandable since no one else was dining outside. But still, we were disappointed that once our food was delivered no one checked in with us about the food, to see if we needed anything and never brought the bill. I think it took a fellow staff member who left the premise and came back seeing us still there that alerted her to come check on us. This place has SO much potential. PLEASE consider adding organic fare to your menu.
