They either do not have a consistent policy for service animals or staff were not trained on consistent response per state laws - there was a lot of unnecessary confusion & frustration.
The food was ok for the value - would reccomed that a plate could feed 2 people or one person than has no intention of eating a second meal that day - the plates had more than you could eat leading to a higher price and wasted food.
Under salted (especially the chips) - otherwise average standard hole in the wall food.
Table was dirty - we had to clean it.
Overcrowded - you have to weave between tables.
Water tasted off - filter should be checked.
Charges extra for 'divorced' style - 2 different salsas, though on the orginal dish you could choose either salsa, you get the same amount of salsa - so you pay extra for the privilege of trying both, but it's the same amount of salsa? It's a waste of time for the staff to explain and the customer is being charged extra for the same amount of food for an option that they would normally not be charged for at most other restaurants.

This place has been a go to and nostalgic for all of my friends and family for years and years. But the food is so mediocre. The place smells like cleaning fluids and the service wasn't friendly. I would skip it

I’m very grumpy so I don’t like a lot of restaurants, but this was the worst so far I’m very angry and the servers were very rude

We have been coming to El Farolito for years! We absolutely love it, it's so delicious 😋 We were especially lucky the last time we went because Eduardo was our waiter. He was quick, efficient, funny, checked up on us SEVERAL times, and it was overall an extremely pleasant experience. The restaurant was extremely busy and even in this environment Eduardo was an absolute pleasure. I had the red chicken enchiladas, they were BOMB!!!

For the last 10 years, el farolito was one of my favorite places to get mexican food but my last two visits have not been that pleasant. Servers used to be very nice, fast, and professional but lately is no longer the case. One of the servers raised his voice at me when I reminded him i had not gotten my drink after 10 min of waiting. The restaurant was only 40% full at the time. The food is still decent but I mean it’s SoCal, there’s good mexican food in every corner. It’s sad to say it but “El Farolito” has changed. I would recommend: los cholos or el mercado by northgate for anyone looking for good mexican flavors.
