Great wine. Wonderful service

Had a wonderful afternoon visit at Lava Cap today. Sarah was a great host. Even if the wine wasn't good, the view and atmosphere is amazing. But the wines are also good! The Old Vine Zin was our combined favorite. But my particular favorite was the Port. Even had a nice visit from the cat. As my wife and I are both geologists, this was our favorite place to visit for many reasons. Highly recommended!

The service is a 10/10. They were very attentive and served us some extra tastings based on our interest. We ended up getting the rose and Lover's Leap (which is a sweet wine infused with brandy). The place is beautiful. We wished they had a local chef to pair the wines with. But we are glad that they support local businesses, such as Annabelle's chocolate.

Beautiful winery with incredible views. They have a great wine club (two 6-bottle shipments per year) that's not very expensive and includes free tastings for you and guests whenever you want. Friendly helpful staff. Down to earth and not snooty. The wine is good across the board but I wouldn't say spectacular. Overall, a very fun place to go and enjoy some wine.

The best winery in the area. Been there twice - high quality wine worth every penny, great service, and stunning views. Loved their event today rolling out their older wines. What a positive and creative way to engage the community and show appreciation to patrons. Thanks Lava Cap, I will be back!

Very scenic. Their Merlot and estate Chardonnay were very good.

Visited on 11/21/2023 around 3:00 PM and there until close.Upon arrival immediately had a friendly greeting with the hostess and a welcome glass of white wine.We were lucky and had a seat available on the front with a perfect view.John was our sommelier and he was an absolute pleasure. We had such great conversation with him. My husband and I did wine tastings with some cheese and crackers. Each of the wines were delicious- not one that we did not like. It’s not often you come across a tasting where you love each wine.It was also great the tasting fee would be waived if you decide to buy bottles, which is a wonderful deal. We did get two bottles of wine (their Syrah and Merlot- both so good!).We did not know we would be catching one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. Born and raised in Roseville, Placerville has always been a quick getaway to enjoy the peace, quiet and views. I’ve seen plenty of beautiful sunsets but something about this location, the grapevines and mountains surrounding the cotton candy skies was breathtaking. The hospitality of this winery is what initially impressed us (after coming from Starfield- see my review there as well).Overall, the hospitality, kind nature of all employees, wine, snacks and view, 10/10 would recommend. You will not be displeased; just disappointed you can’t stay there all day and night to soak up the wine and beauty.Thank y’all for such a great time!

Lava Cap Winery is one of those places that we love to stop by when we are in the Apple Hill area. It is beautiful looking out over the vineyards. We took our daughter there for her 21st birthday, thinking it would be a great place to teach her about some wines and enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately the weather turned out to be a little drizzly, but the staff were handing out blankets for everyone to bundle up under. We enjoyed the wine tasting and purchased a charcuterie plate which was just the perfect mix of cheese and meats and nuts and bought a bottle of their port, which was quite delicious. All in all, the experience was really good. It was pretty crowded and the staff was great at the wine tasting, but getting a bottle of wine to go was a little more difficult. It just seemed to get off our server's radar, and we were left waiting until we just decided to go up to the cashier and get it ourselves. Besides that though, the experience was great.

Beautiful setting, great wines. Separate dog patio keeps the pups away from the vineyard's cat. The sparkling wine is delicious.

This was the cutest winery! The location is so beautiful. Service was fantastic and staff was very nice! We did the wine tastings and they were very generous and reasonably priced. It’s also dog friendly (:

Amazing. The people here are kinder than anywhere around. The view from the deck is amazing and the wine is a representation of Northern California. A phenomenal mix of wines but their Rose was too die for!

Stopped in after lunch on a Sunday and this place was the highlight of our day. The property is unreal and we lost count of hummingbirds passing over us. Jen took care of us and she was a blast, patient with all of our questions and really helped us sort out what we bought and our next stop in town/picked her brain for recommendations before heading home.

One of my favorite wineries in the area. Great place to take in the view while enjoying a glass or two of wine. They also allow outside food in their large patio area, which have tables with umbrellas.
