Absolutely best Sushi in El Dorado County! We had been putting this place off on our way to and from Tahoe but friends had said it was great. We just left there and it exceeded expectations! It’s a bummer to drive around the newer lane barrier but we will do it again for the sushi! The quality, family kindness and beautiful views are well worth it! This place is truly a hidden gem!Kid-friendliness: They were welcoming to our kiddos and so friendly!!!

Hidden GEM, we have always gone down the hill for sushi. Driving further and further to find the best. It was right here the whole time, so close. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Service was amazing and so generous. Presentation was better than any other place we have gone. They took great care of us, even had us try some items as if we were family. RECOMMEND for sure.

Delicious bento box and a beautiful view from the back patio. Absolutely worth the stop, even if you have to make a u-turn to get there.

People where nice and answered all my questions for a sushi place out in the middle of now where pretty good price wasn't horrible taste was good sauce wasn't the best but I would come back if I had no where else to go

This bright purple (really!) spot was a delightful surprise on our drive from Lake Tahoe back to the Bay Area. These folks have been dishing up Japanese cuisine for 18 years, and clearly love what they do. Service was friendly and homey and the food was delicious. The udon was rich and tasty, and the Blue Jazz Roll was a standout — fried jalapeños + mango somehow work perfectly together. The patio was perfect for an early dinner/late lunch with spectacular views of the mountains.

This place is cute and the food is good. They have awesome art on the walls and a beautiful view of the canyon. Sunsets ate breathtaking! They can get busy (good for them) but as a result service slows down which is to be expected. Last time we went in we waited about 20 minutes to get our drinks and 30 mintutes to get our food after we ordered. We were at the restaurant close to two hours from start to finish, that's the reason I didn't give a 5 star review.

Shilla was very busy on a Friday night, place was packed. Placed a large order to go and staff was great. Had miso soup while we waited, very nice. Had the teriyaki salmon, crispy skin, nice sauce. The sushi selection is massive. Very filling, and still hot once we got back home. Close to apple hill and right off the freeway heading to Tahoe. Will come back again.

This place is absolutely amazing. They run to the fish market in San Francisco every single morning at 2:00 in the morning. The talent of the chefs is astounding and every roll is a work of art. What an amazing place.... I never would have imagined the best sushi I ever had was come out of a purple building, ?Food: 5/5

**WORTH THE U-TURN** at Smith Flat Road (49B) on your way from Tahoe. Great hospitality, friendly staff, and traditional atmosphere! It only gets better...the rolls were delicious. The "Sapporo Roll" (spicy) and the "Dragon Roll" were top on our list this visit. Generous slabs on the 2pc nigiri. Despite the concrete barrier between eastbound and westbound 50, this place is a MUST-STOP from either direction for sushi. Incredible service, hospitality, and 4 star food combine for 5 stars.

This is by far one of the best sushi places I've ever been too. The staff were lovely, the wait time was short. The foods presentation was amazing, fun, and honestly really cool. The foods quality and flavor was really good. If I could I would rate it 10/10. Five stars isn't enough. Definitely going to come back whenever I'm in the area. (Forgive my brother being a dork in the photos)

This is amazingly a diamond in the rough! The food feels like it was home cooked and they treat you like family. It's a bit hard to get here if you're on the opposite side of the freeway, but it is well worth it. The owners were treating my 1 year old like he was their grandchild. Also, the views in the back are amazing, just like the owners.Kid-friendliness: They treat your kids like their grandkids. The owners were giving my 1 year old random new toys or trinkets. They were awesome.

Our favorite Local sushi restaurant! They are always so welcoming and the food is delicious! The kids meals are well enjoyed by the kids. We personally really love the spicy Ramen and the variety of rolls. One of the best priced dinners in the area, for the service you get from the sweet women and men that work here.

VERY rude, not polite and disrespectful service!I was with my kids and wife to check the restaurant on our way to Lake Tahoe. So, as not locals, we didn't know you needed reservations. We barely entered and one of the sushimen shouted at us: "Do you have a reservation? If not, go and wait for 45 min. Today is Sunday and everyone needs a reservation".We turned around and went away. So if you are planning to go there, make sure you call first and make a reservation. Or just don't bother and go to a place with better service.
