My partner and I rented Wakamatsu farm for a small, intimate wedding ceremony in mid October. The gardens were the perfect setting for our ceremony and gorgeous for pictures. We also made use of the Tea House since my mother-in-law is Chinese and we wanted to do a tea ceremony as part of the wedding. My husband and I just got married at Wakamatsu two weeks ago. We had a fabulous wedding! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained as this is a conserved piece of land owned by the American River Conservancy. There is much history there and the ARC does a wonderful job preserving it. Melissa Lobach (Development Director) was a great resource and patiently worked with us to answer any questions we had while planning our wedding there! This happened nearly 200 years ago, but I'm sure they had to work harder than we can imagine. By the way, around this time, John Manjiro, who was in the United States, apparently came to this area to mine for gold in order to obtain funds to return to Japan. As I stood here thinking about these things and looking at the plants and mountains that still exist today, just as they did in the past, like Mr. Wakamatsu and John Manjiro, I felt an indescribable feeling.
