Fabulous!
Not only was the food delicious the owner actually took a significant amount of time to sit and talk with me about the menu!
I ended up pairing it with my OH SKUNT pepper sauce I brought pictured with my dishes.
Match made in heaven

We visited Oyo on Father’s Day and had a mixed experience. The service was friendly and attentive, which we really appreciated, especially on a busy holiday. However, the food didn’t quite meet our expectations.
While we could tell the flavors had great potential, a couple of the dishes were unfortunately overcooked and slightly burnt with bitter taste — most notably the half chicken and the octopus salad. This took away from what could have been a very enjoyable meal. It’s possible the kitchen was short-handed due to the holiday rush, which might explain the inconsistency.
We’d be open to trying Oyo again on a less hectic day, as the menu seems promising and the atmosphere was nice. Hopefully next time the execution matches the quality of service.
I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but...
The calamari was under cooked.
The jerk chicken, although flavorful, was dry like it reheated from the previous day or left in the oven for hours.
One of the hostess was like the chicken, dry and maybe left over from the previous day.
Plantains were awesome and the drinks too.
I'm sure I'll go back just to see if it gets any better.
Good whiskey sampler. Nice atmosphere.
We had the oyo paella and the ribs. Both were delicious but the paella was better. Both have serving sizes large enough to share, and we could have been happy with just the paella but we stuffed ourselves. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Absolutely love Oyo. It’s hard to get vegetarian Caribbean food, but they ace it. 100% worth the price. The food is mouth watering, and I eat there everytime I come back home.
Friday 6/6 Stopped by Oyo and opted to sit at the bar, hoping for a cocktail and an appetizer.
The bartender was busy mixing drinks, shaking steel containers right in front of us—no problem, that’s the job! But after ten minutes of nonstop clanking, he finally asked if we wanted a drink.
At that point, the loud spectacle had already taken center stage. The timing and delivery made the interaction feel more dismissive than welcoming. A simple acknowledgment early on, even just a quick “I’ll be with you in a moment,” would have gone a long way.
Great service isn’t just about making drinks—it’s about making guests feel seen. Hoping they improve, as the atmosphere has potential.
The only positive was the owner stopping by towards the end to ask how was the food.
Wished he observed this spectacle.
Have been coming since they opened, so glad they’ve expanded though it’s sad to see clover creek go. The staff and food are always exceptional. Fun environment. Love the gluten free and vegetarian / vegan options. They truly have something for everyone and every occasion! Had the privilege of meeting the owner and he was very nice as well.
Google asked me to update my review: "has it changed?" YES! OYO HAS ONLY GOTTEN BETTER! They've expanded their restaurant so there's double the indoor dining space and it's decorated in the same beautiful and vibrant way the last iteration of Oyo was. For those like myself continuing to dine outdoors-only for health concerns, there's still an excellent and comfy outdoor patio complete with lush plants and warm heaters for cold nights.
Oyo is my favorite restaurant. I'm a little picky when it comes to food so usually at restaurants when I find something I like to eat, I'll stick with that menu item. However every time I visit the food is so consistently delicious that I now step out of my comfort zone and try new dishes. I hope to try the whole menu! Chef Maurice is excellent and always seems to find just the right elements to put together for a meal plate. They offer special menus for holidays. The servers and greeters are always kind and prompt. It's beautiful inside and the outside dining area has pretty plants. Even the bathroom is cool!! You will not regret trying this place, I bring everyone I can here.
Dietary restrictions: Some great vegan and gluten-free options, marked well on the menu too. They use a lot of coconut cream also, which is vegan friendly

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in the area. The food is so so good. The service is also exemplary. This is one of those special kind of restaurants that you don't find very often.
Recommend: almost everything.
Jerk tofu. One of the best dishes on the menu by far. Delicious.
Taco special
Pork tostones
Jerked pork shoulder (this is pretty much like a Cuban roast pork shoulder)
Jerked half chicken ( but sometimes this is quite dry so it is not 100% consistent)
Run down fish
Beef and chicken patties
Oxtails
Goat curry
Vegan paella
Steak special
Homemade bread and butter
Hot Sauce... I believe this is their jerk marinade and it is filled with habaneros. It's super spicy, love it.
The only thing I didn't love is the street food doubles. Add occasionally the jerk chicken breast is quite dry. I usually get it to go and then add butter.
Anyway the food is so good here that you pretty much can't go wrong. In addition the place has a really nice Ambience and it has outdoor seating they've doubled in size in the last 2 years so that tells you a lot about how great this restaurant is. I would go all the time if it werent for the price, so I need to moderate myself at least a little.

The squid ink paella was extremely salty , I felt sick at the amount of salt I consumed in one bite, the jerk chicken was also really salty, highly overcooked and dry. The plantains were the only thing good. The service was grand but not so much the food.

The jerk shoulder with a side of habenero sauce is AMAZING! Our server, Brenda, was awesome, as well as other staff we interacted with. Drinks were yummy, too. The interior is decorated nicely. The slight downside to sitting inside is that it can be a bit loud. Outside is nice, especially when they have live music. Overall, it's a favorite spot in dt Pleasanton.
Wheelchair accessibility: The building is on the first floor. You can enter directly from the sidewalk. There is also outdoor seating. The bathroom is spacious. I am unsure of the dimensions of the hallway leading to the bathroom.
