Outstanding. Small plates make it affordable. Preparation is off the charts. Served by knowledgeable and friendly staff and ownership.Vegetarian options: Irresistible cabbage, grilled mushrooms, pickles, salad and more.Dietary restrictions: Very conscientious about our guest’s gluten allergy

Visited for the Petite Percebes x Gama pop-up and wow, what a great meal and evening. Every dish was perfectly executed, especially the scallops with olives and the chef's braided diakon?. Thanks!

Turned into Point Arena because it was getting too dark to drive any further. The guy at front desk of the wildflower hotel said “they’re excellent”, and they were. Beyond excellent. Husband and wife team. Not a single off step. It’s all good. Hard working, exceptional food. And on a Sunday night in January. Don’t miss the cabbage. Thank you.Vegetarian options: The green part of the menu is above and beyond. Simple as well as sophisticated.

Genuinely one of the best meals in my entire life. Every single dish was incredible, the ambiance/service was amazing without feeling pretentious, and zero complaints. This rivals (if not beats) one and two Michelin star restaurants around the world. A must-try if you’re in the region!

I rarely give reviews. Came here with group of friends and it was one of the best dining experiences of life. Wasn’t expecting it. Amazing food and staff, great presentation. Hidden gem on PCH. Must stop destination. This place will become famous one day. We travel a lot and it was highlight of year.

The service is fantastic and the food and sake selections are great. Everything we had was delicious. Our server was able to recommend sake choices that we both really enjoyed. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The ceramics and table ware add a nice touch. It's a gem of a restaurant.

I was staying next door and tried my luck walking in. The restaurant is small and was very busy but they were able to accommodate our party of 2! The staff were very attentive and everything was beautiful. It was a great place for a bday dinner. I wish I took more pictures but I was too busy eating. All the seafood was really fresh. I especially liked the kanpachi sashimi and kama as well as the gama-ae. We tried a wide variety of the hot food options and found some of the skewers to be salty. They they also had a large, unique selection of sake and beer. We were able to try some and the hot tea. I'd go back if I was ever in the area.

A must-try! We made a reservation a few days before. When we arrived we were swiftly and warmly greeted. We tried the green beans, chef's choice sashimi, black cod, sukiyaki, and karaage. The sukiyaki was delicate but savory, and the black cod was cooked to perfection. We were stuffed but couldn't resist ordering a final round of the kanpachi sashimi which is incredibly flavorful and melts in your mouth. The ice cream was also homemade and a true treat. Can't wait to be back.

I didn't see the name of the restaurant in front of the restaurant, but I saw the logo and recognized it. It's a cute restaurant with limited table seating so make sure to get a reservation. Otherwise you might have to wait an hour or two. I got lucky and someone cancelled so I was able to get a bar seating in 10 minutes through a walk in.Once you come in, you'll probably be greeted by the owner. You can tell she's the owner just based on her confident answers and the amount of detail she describes the food with. She knows the sources of the items. I chose to get seated down at the bar area since that had a shorter wait time. The kaarage came with a yuzu aoli sauce and it was fried perfectly. Crispy but still soft and juicy in the middle. The black cod was my least favorite but I still enjoyed the freshness of the fish. I think it was a little too salty for my liking. The sukiyaki had soft wagyu beef with mushrooms and schezwan peppers marinated in yuzu. The peppers gave it a little kick with a burst of yuzu and followed by the numbing oil from the schezwan. The black sesame cheesecake was deliciously creamy and had a citrusy creamy yuzu dipping sauce on the side. Overall I enjoyed my meal, the well-knowledged service, and visiting such a cute restaurant :)

Really this place is named Gama and is an Izakaya style Japanese emporium featuring a lot of sake and Japanese beer. During our extended stay in the Northern California coastal town of Point Arena we were intrigued by it as a nice place for my wife's next dah birthday. Gama features a Japanese inspired menu featuring an extensive list of sake and culinary treats served in a Japanese style. The menu is based on several hot and cold plate dishes with a couple of basic side dishes. Since it was a special night we decided to get several choices. We were first served the cold dishes of which we ordered several. We tried the delicious eggplant, a decent potato salad and a nice Half Moon Bay amberjack sashimi. The eggplant and sashimi were particularly tasty especially paired with their sake special... waterfall something which was served in a carafe, but, usually by the bottle. For the main course, we ordered a couple of specials, a grilled amber jack collar, Waygu beef heart in a skewer and a lovely local black cod steak. All really wonderful. We ended our dinner with a black sesame cheese cake which took me back, flavor wise, to the market in Tokyo where sesame dishes are plentiful. As one of the top restaurants in Point Aren't, Gama really hit the spot for our special occasion dinner and Northern California Coast travel experience. Definitely on my list if we return.

Really glad we tried it - concise menu with small and larger plates and limited but innovative sashimi with some choices not on a typical sushi restaurant menu. A duck breast dish was sadly chewy, but the pork tonkatsu was very very good as was a dessert we had never had before, an amazement ice cream with miso caramel. Very friendly staff, lovely room, definitely worth trying if you enjoy, or want a different take on, a Japanese menu.
