This is a great Kava Bar, with the whole exception, is that every time I get a cloud at this specific branch, it’s very inconsistent and mostly has less. The staff is great. I just wish they were more consistent with the quantity of the drink approx half full as often its 1-1.5/4 filled. Especially considering it costs 11$

Good drinks and quick service. I appreciate that the staff knows their different kavas and are able to explain their characteristics to the less experienced kava drinkers. Fun vibe inside too - the island videos mixed with He-Man videos on the walls is a fun juxtaposition, and the sound-reactive colored lights in the corners set a cool mood

Why is this the first time I'm hearing about Kava?! LOCATION & DECOR: At the end of R street near the historic district past the art. Street parking available all around. If dark tropical was a theme, this is the place. Think tiki Island temple lounge for kicking back and chillin. DRINK: Kava root is it depressant drug drivers from a plant root that slows down messages from the brain to the body which gives a feeling of relaxation similar to a buzz from drinking alcohol. Kava itself is quite bitter So you'll need to get a mixer or chaser. You can customize your own or get one of their pre-made drinks with your choice of a slice of fruit like pineapple or watermelon. -Cloud Breaker: this is their signature Kava drink. It is definitely the one to try If this is your first time with Kava. It's heavier so drink slowly. -Rip Tide is another one to try. I feel like it was lighter on the kava feeling. PRICE: $-$$ -Cloud Breaker $11 -Rip Tide $9 SWAG/AMENITIES: -Booth seating -Lounge seating -Table games -Late night hours on weekends -Customer restroom -Stickers STAFF & EXPERIENCE: Laid back and super chill employees. They must be drinking the Kava. Haha. I was greeted upon stepping to the counter for my first time and asked for recommendations. I was given an honest review of things then chose the signature cloud breaker. I got a chaser and fruit which was also recommended and thankfully so. No way I can do Kava, on its own. It's open seating wherever there is room. I sat down at a couch with a table and cards on it. Looked around at all the cool decor and something the atmosphere as I sipped on Kava with a friend. The first thing I noticed when trying cava was the numbing feeling in my tongue. That was interesting. Then I began to feel this vibration throughout my body that was almost like it was falling asleep but not going without feeling. I didn't feel tired I just felt relaxed. So similar to being buzzed on alcohol, but without the sick feeling in my stomach or the hangover afterward. Absolutely grateful that I have found Kava at a local spot! I don't drink alcohol so those is an absolute win all around!

Worst Kava bar I have ever been to. The cup is not even a quarter full. It is not potent. Female employee with glasses and black hair is very rude and unprofessional. Security is extremely rude. Does not take job serious and you can tell he does not enjoy his job. Overall terrible kava and worst root of happiness I have been too. Not enjoyable.

Cozy and to the point, it's a decent place! I visited last night and met the two young gentlemen running the shift. They were kind, informative, and fun! Between them and what they serve up there, I would be happy to come back with some friends somewhat regularly.Keep it up! Vinaka!
