La vie will definitely exceed your expectations being that it is a small unassuming restaurant in the not so boosie edge of South San Gabriel. Delicious escargo and a wide variety of desserts. My favorite the fresh fruit sabyon have sadly taken off the menu for some reason. The vietnamese family that owns it takes great pride in they're cooking and Mastered the art in France. The newer heavyset hostess guy (sorry if i misused the pronoun) is kinda rude and Absolutely dreaded...
This is a French restaurant owned and operated by Vietnamese staff. Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. Made reservations but the restaurant was not that busy tonight. The escargot is a must order here. They typically have daily specials that are not on the menu. I had the New York steak special. Steak was cooked perfectly with a nice peppercorn sauce. All entrées come with turnip soup and a small salad. Also tea or coffee served after meal. The service could have been better...
It was a bit weird getting hot water in glass stemware with a slice of lemon. Chilean sea bass was very good, the duck was good but a touch under rendered. They made an extra effort to keep lactose out of two of the dishes for us.
