I appreciate that the plates are meant to share. Everyone’s tastes can be met and they’ll course the plates to truly complement one another. The servers were all wonderful, and the runner had a genuine passion for the dishes.

As for the food: I’d order the blistered pole beans and the mole tots again. The tomahawk and shrimp beignets were a fine one off, and the chicken drumsticks we could take or leave. To drink, the sassenach and no cap were again a good one off, but not drinks that will have you order another.

On the whole: Canon is a fine restaurant. We joined a friend who, like many others I assume, was using their CSR dining credit. With how reasonable the smaller plates are, and for how much better they were than the main events, going back I’d avoid the large plates entirely.

We decided to go here because it was a Chase sapphire open table restaurant. It was really good. We tried lots of different small plates plus the toasted whole chicken. We’d definitely go back and try other items on the menu.

Canon is such a treat! Every time I come in, I’m always warml welcomed, Jarrett always knows my drink! He actually introduced me to a Cognac Old Fashioned. I would certainly love to see what other drinks Jarrett can build into the program!

Not sure if we came on an off night but we did not have a positive experience here. Wife and I came to Canon on Thursday for a dinner date this week to celebrate a graduation. Parking is really bad as heads up to others. Had to wait 20 mins for our table despite having a reservation. Indoors was nice vibe but loud, outdoor patio was quieter but decor looked tired and beat-up. Our table top was streaked black with old grime and we could see exposed insulation at the booths. Multiple families with toddlers running around yelling and climbing on furniture. At one point in night we had the pleasure of being hot boxed with weed smoke from someone outside the restaurant. Cocktails were good, food was not. At $50+ a plate for just an entree I’m expecting solid quality cuisine. Wife got trout and I got the pork rib cap. Since entrees don’t come with sides, we got a dish of potatoes to share. Potatoes came out cold…twice. Pork dish was tough and overcooked, also not hot. Doesn’t really matter to me but presentation was lackluster. Portion was quite small, felt like a half pork chop cut into thin slices. Wife’s trout was better presented, but covered in a thick herb paste which made it hard to taste any actual trout. Dessert was a chocolate almond cake, that was tasty. Bill for two people came out to $200 for two entrees, one (cold) side, two cocktails, and a dessert. I left hungry and won’t be returning. For comparison, we went to Ella the next day and spent less with twice as many people and the food was much tastier.

The menu changes seasonally so maybe this menu wasn't to our liking but the food was underwhelming - tends to be on the salty side. We liked the small bits + salads but nothing stood out. The service was excellent though and the patio is a well decorated space. Maybe I'll go back when the seasons change and try again.

My husband took me here for our 26th anniversary and I am so glad he did. The food was so delicious and the service was even better. The tots were the best I have ever had!

Food was fairly decent, i had the smoked duck was $$$ as expected. I was as sat at the bar, Jenna was a lazy server and seemed annoyed by my existence. Maybe because I look 10 yrs younger than I am, she assumed I wouldn’t tip??? But the guy gave me top notch service! Was painful to write in a 30% tip he deserved on the bill he gave me with her name at the top. Hopefully they are tip sharing. If he hadn’t been there i probably wouldn’t have left a tip.

Top notch from start to finish! I can't say enough about Canon. My family enjoyed a wonderful evening here to celebrate a graduation. There were 7 of us, so we requested a small private room. It was fantastic. The space was ideal for our group and the curtain helped cut some noise from the main dining area so we could enjoy conversation. Every staff member was so attentive and knowledgeable. Food and drinks were prepared with the freshest ingredients and every bite we enjoyed was vibrantly tasty and flavorful. Some of our group's favorites were the the albacore crudo, the duck legs, the tomahawk steak, smashed potatoes, the creamed corn, and for dessert the rice pudding brule. I'd post pictures but we were so eager to try everything and our choices were so tasty that nothing lasted long on our table! We'll be back!

The dishes was creative and so delicious. We tried a lot of the small plates and veggies, plus shared a main. This was way too much food but all of the flavors were so good we couldn’t stop. Our top 2 dishes were the chicken drumsticks and the pork rib cap. For cocktails, the First Born with tequila, pineapple and strega plus the special clarified milk gin cocktail were both delicious! Complex yet balanced flavors in both drinks. We will definitely visit Canon again when back through Sacramento next time.

It’s darn good! But, if this is your last day on Earth, drive up Folsom a tick and eat at Allora

I expected more from this restaurant, but I was disappointed. I was served a burnt artichoke that was completely inedible; the staff saw that I hadn't eaten it but offered no alternative. It was so tough that I couldn't even chew it—I simply had to spit out the bite I attempted to try. The steak was dry, and the asparagus was undercooked. The desserts were not tasty at all.

The food and service were fantastic! My one nitpick was that the tuna crudo's sauce significantly overpowered the taste of the tuna which is a shame because the fish was super fresh and tasted great.

The atmosphere was kind of a letdown. We sat inside and it was really loud, the combo of hard surfaces everywhere makes it difficult to hold a conversation which was a shame. Maybe the outdoor seating is quieter?
